Blame everyone except Russia: Medvedev named the reasons for the collapse of the ruble

Post by Admin on Sat Aug 22, 2015 5:39 pm

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said to journalists the reasons for the weakening of the ruble: the fall in world oil prices, devaluation of national currencies of China and Kazakhstan, as well as Western sanctions.

"The reason for the weakening of the ruble in recent years, of course, linked to the fall in oil prices. I must admit that it is the lowest point of oil prices over the past six years. There are other reasons. It is the general instability in the capital markets, the situation surrounding the Chinese currency, and maybe not so much the situation of our neighbors: Kazakhstan decided to waive the exchange rate band, which weakened the Tenge. And we are still the economy interconnected, and so all these processes can not be for us indifferent, ".
Among other reasons, the minister called Russia imposed against Western sanctions, including the closure of Russia's capital markets and the imposition of sanctions on Russian banks.

Medvedev expects additional sales of foreign exchange exporters can strengthen the ruble. It was reported that the Russian ruble fell to a six-month low.
