At least two people are dead in a shooting during a live broadcast at Smith Mountain Lake, according to Roanoke.com.
Franklin County deputies are searching for a suspect after multiple shots were fired at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta at Smith Mountain Lake Wednesday morning, according to a sheriff's office spokesman.
The shooting was broadcast live during television station WDBJ's morning show.
During a live news update, WDBJ general manager Jeff Marks reported that reporter Alison Parker, 24, and photographer Adam Ward, 27, died shortly after 6:45 a.m., according to Roanoke.com. Parker was a graduate of James Madison University and Ward graduated from Virginia Tech.

Two Virginia television journalists fatally shot in on-air attack

Two television journalists were shot and killed in Virginia on Wednesday morning while conducting a live television interview, their station, WDBJ7 said.
The incident occurred during a live broadcast in Bedford County, when shots could be heard, sending the reporter and her source screaming and ducking for cover.
The station said that journalists Alison Parker and Adam Ward died in the incident.
