News -
Putin attacked Ukraine 4 times yesterday. See first post below.
Update at 1300. 1 Ukrainian soldier died in fighting.

Russian "news" -
TASS. The Head of the Russian Investigative Committee has said that Yatseniuk "tortured and executed" Russians in Chechnya; he was in the "punishing squads".
I am not joking about this. See the link below. The Russian media are taking this story seriously!!
The free world are revelling in photoshop images of Senichka in a tank, or holding a grenade launcher, ...

Weather -
A little better today around the capital. 9C this morning. High expected of 18. Warmer further south. Odessa in the mid-20s - more pleasant.
Some sunshine already.

Footie -
0-0 last night for Ukraine. So it looks 90% certain they will finish in 3rd spot and get a playoff place - complete lottery then who they get in the draw - and if they are seeded (if the draw is seeded; I'm not sure).

British soldiers in Ukraine -
I personally met some British soldiers yesterday in a cafe - completely by accident. They were in plain clothes. But their accents... wow...
Some amazing regional accents in Britain. I wonder how the Ukrainians understand them!
I asked them what they were doing, and they simply said "helping the Ukrainian Armed Forces". I thanked them for their work; and gave a thumbs up.

Verkhovna Rada deputy Dmitry Yarosh urges Ukrainian citizens to prepare for civil disobedience.

Thus he wrote on his page on the social network Facebook.

"I call on all citizens of Ukraine, fighters and activists of the national liberation movement" Right Sector "to prepare for an active civil disobedience, whose main aim is the elimination of the regime of internal occupation and produce national state of the Ukrainian people", - he wrote.

In addition, Ukrainian volunteer corps command "Right Sector" and the management of socio-political wing of the "SS" Yarosh instructed to present concrete proposals for actions and events, to start negotiations with the representatives of other political, social and military forces.

Jarosch said that such decisions it has pushed the situation with the arrest of members of the Odessa cell "SS", which he considers repression of political forces. In Russian

They're not political forces, they're gangsters that will bring Ukraine down totally against Putin.

I'm a Banderite and from research I know there was a split within the OUN. Some went with the German Nazi's and some went with Bandera. Are these supposed Ukrainian patriots fighting for Ukraine's sovereignty or are they playing Putin's tune, similar to what the OUN Nazi side did. If they're truly Banderites, they should be fighting as one, with the current government, not against it. Currently it seems, they want to cause division and possibly a true civil war. Is that what they want? Will another Maidan help Ukraine, at the same time the country's fighting Putin? This won't end well. 0-1-2 Ukrainian ATO lives are being killed lately. If they start shyte as they're planning and increase the conflict/war, will they be satisfied that 100's of Ukrainian lives will be lost on a daily basis, and possibly give Putin a green light to go into Ukraine further? This is the excuse Putin wants to go all in and it seems Yarosh and company will give it to him. Hmmm! German Nazi's and part of OUN, Putin and part of OUN?

There are Nazi's in the US, Europe and in Russia. That's the ideology they chose. Don't let it affect Ukraine's future. Nazism shouldn't bring down Bandera's reputation for wanting a free country from foreign rule.?
Most of the articles of the law on special status of local governments of individual regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions are being suspended.

It was announced by President Poroshenko during the meeting of thr Regional Development Council in Kyiv on Wednesday, September 9.

“The term of the laws authority is three years and one has already passed,” – said Poroshenko.

“Most of the articles of this law are currently suspended. They can start working only if in some parts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions are held elections, according to Ukrainian legislation, OSCE standards and if elections are recognized by international observers. Besides, the occupying forces must withdraw from the regions and return the control over the border between Ukraine and Russia, thus liberating these territories, “- said the President of Ukraine.

“Therefore, changes to the Constitution does not mean a loss for Ukrainian sovereignty over the occupied territories, on the contraty – regaining soveregnity over these territories,” – emphasized Poroshenko.

“Again I should stress, that Ukraine is, was and will be one hundred percent unitary state, albeit our enemies want to change it. We will never agree, “- said Ukrainian leader.

Too bad organizations like Right Sector and Yarosh want to start an all-out war. The terrorists aren't going to get what they want. Putin's losing out. But these groups want to start shyte that will get Ukraine in very deep.

State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine (SFGCU) has blocked the main channels of money withdrawal to the offshore accounts in a bid to recover as a trustworthy player in the grain market, according to Denys Polezhayev, deputy chairman of the board of the Corporation.

He recalled that the sale of grain to four offshore companies in 2014 resulted in $132 million of receivables: "Ships have been sent, but we never got paid. Now we not only fail to collect the debts, but fall under the sanctions of the Ministry of Economic Development."

"It is almost impossible to return the money, so we have set a goal - to eliminate even the slightest possibility of money transfer in offshore accounts in the future. Now the corporation is set to work only with well-known companies with excellent reputation," said Denys Polezhayev.

In particular, the SFGCU imposed a ban on trade with offshore companies, as well as significantly tightened control over the purchase of grain. The company abandoned the scheme of procurement through agents and work on a prepaid basis. In addition, the procedure of forward purchases has been tightened - the delivery of grain to elevators owned by the SFGCU has become a prerequisite. As a result, the Corporation saw not a single new receivable, not a single default on export contracts this year..............

The brutal battles of the first Chechen war bring a lot of images to mind, but Arseniy Yatsenyuk's face was never among them -- until now.

Social media satirists had a field day after the head of Russia's Investigative Committee, Aleksandr Bastrykin, claimed in an interview published on September 8 that the Ukrainian prime minister fought alongside Chechen rebels in the first of two devastating post-Soviet separatist wars in the region.

Bastrykin claimed that Yatsenyuk took part in at least two battles in Chechnya's capital, Grozny, in late 1994 and early 1995, "as well as in torture and executions of Russian Army servicemen" in January 1995.

The allegations are far from funny. But with its latest salvo in the information war over Ukraine, the Kremlin served up an irresistible target for mockery on the Internet.

In Ukraine, Russia, and further afield, social media users let their imagination soar. In a reversal of the Soviet practice of airbrushing people out of the picture, they used Photoshop to underscore the their rejection of the Russian claim by providing mock, retouched, "evidence" of Yatsenyuk's participation in the Chechen war:..............

Hillary Clinton, the former U.S. secretary of state who is now a leading contender to be the next president, has called for a stronger response to Russia's actions in Ukraine and Syria, saying Moscow's objectives were "to stymie, to confront, and to undermine American power whenever and wherever."

In thinly veiled criticism of President Barack Obama's administration and its current approach to Russia, Clinton said that Washington should be doing more in response to Russia's interference in Ukraine.

"I have been, I remain convinced that we need a concerted effort to really up the costs on Russia and in particular on Putin. I think we have not done enough," she said following a speech on September 9 at the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank.

"I am in the category of people who wanted us to do more in response to the annexation of Crimea and the continuing destabilization of Ukraine."

Russia took over Crimea from Ukraine in March 2014, after sending troops and staging a referendum denounced as illegitimate by the United States and about 100 other countries.

The United States says Russia has sent troops and weapons into eastern Ukraine to support separatists in a conflict that has killed more than 7,900 people since April 2014.

"We can't dance around it anymore. We all wish it would go away," she said. "We all wish Putin would choose to modernize his country and move toward the West instead of sinking himself into historical roots of tsar-like behavior, and intimidation along national borders and projecting Russian power in places like Syria and elsewhere."

The comments by Clinton, who served as Obama's secretary of state from 2009 until February 2013, bore similarities to sentiments being voiced with growing frequency by other candidates, particularly Republicans.

Clinton faces several other Democrats also seeking the party's nomination to be its candidate in the November 2016 election.

None of the announced candidates has had as much experience shaping Russia policy as Clinton, who helped put Obama's first term "reset" of relations with Moscow in place.

Clinton said some achievements were made while Dmitry Medvedev was in office as Russian president from 2008-2012, including the New START nuclear arms-control pact and enhanced cooperation on transit of U.S. arms and materiel to Afghanistan.

But she said Putin's return to the Kremlin changed that.

"I think Russia's objectives are to stymie and to confront and undermine American power whenever and wherever they can. I don't think there's much to be surprised about them," she said.

"We have to do more to get back talking about how to we try to confine, contain, deter Russian aggression in Europe and beyond," she said. "And try to figure out what are the best tools for doing that. And don't lose sight of the Arctic because we're going to have a lot of issues up there as well."..............

Supreme Council of Justice of Ukraine suspects 13 Ukrainian judges of cooperation with illegal groups from the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk "people's republics."

This was announced by the authority's press service, Censor.NET reports.

"Upon review of statements of judges who submitted their resignations on general circumstances, the Supreme Council of Justice found 13 judges who collaborate with the so-called terrorist organizations "DPR" and "LPR", which is why the Council decided to suspend consideration of their applications and send the materials to the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine," the report says.

According to the Council Chairman Ihor Benedysiuk, the High Qualification Commission will decide on bringing the judges in question to responsibility. In Russian

The monitoring mission of the UN Human Rights Council in Ukraine, recorded facts of mass killings of civilians, abductions, torture, sexual violence, forced labor and extortion by militants in the Donbas.

This is stated in the transferred UNIAN comments MFA of Ukraine in connection with the publication of the 11th report of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the situation of human rights in Ukraine.

"Ukraine has carefully studied the 11th report of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, which covers the period from 16 May to 15 August 2015. The collected information is the monitoring mission was another testament to the highly negative impact of the Russian aggression against Ukraine on the human rights situation. In particular, it clearly stated the impact of external factors, such as supply from the Russian Federation military forces, weapons and ammunition in the Donbass, on human rights in the region ", - said in a statement.

It is noted that the report is important as the documentation of crimes committed by Russian-backed illegal armed groups in the east of Ukraine. Among the mission recorded the fact of mass killings of civilians, abductions, torture, sexual violence, forced labor and extortion.

Separately, it stressed that, contrary to international law and the Constitution of Ukraine, the illegal armed groups in certain regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions continue to create their administrative psevdostruktury and exercise quasi-issuance of passports to local residents.

"Much attention is paid to the situation in the occupied Russian Federation Autonomous Republic of Crimea, where the rights of the Crimean Tatars and ethnic Ukrainians systematically violated. We believe that the severity of the problem and mass human rights of the Russian occupying power requires a separate detailed report of OHCHR ", - reported in the Foreign Ministry.

The positive assessment report received the approval of the National Strategy in the field of human rights, the development of which was attended by representatives of international organizations and civil society. A number of recommendations in the document OHCHR aimed at improving respect for human rights in Ukraine, will be carefully studied.

The Ukrainian side highly appreciates the activities of OHCHR and the Monitoring Commission on Human Rights in Ukraine. Their work contributes to the unbiased informing the international community on the state of human rights in conditions caused by the Russian aggression against Ukraine. The results of developments of the mission, which operates in Ukraine on the invitation of the Government from March 15, 2014, became an effective argument in favor of the initiation of Ukraine to extend the mandate of the Monitoring Mission until 15 March 2016. In Russian
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said in a letter accepted by the Hague-based ICC that the court can investigate for the "purpose of identifying, prosecuting, and judging perpetrators and accomplices of [criminal] acts committed" in Ukraine since February 20, 2014.

But the ICC said in a statement that accepting the court's jurisdiction "does not automatically trigger an investigation."

Kyiv had previously given the ICC the right to probe alleged crimes committed between November 2013 and February 2014, when pro-Moscow President Viktor Yanukovych was ousted after mass protests.................

Natural gas also quite low now. Good for Ukraine.
And the oil price - of course, the only real thing that can keep Putin's war machine in check.
The ruble - slightly stronger. At 68 to a dollar. Intervention?

The hrvynia - stable at 22.0
Which means probably 23.0 // 23.4 at the exchange bureau.
One of the leaders of Russian-backed separatists in east Ukraine, Andrei Purgin, said on Tuesday he had been released from custody after being held in a cell for four days by his own side for reasons he did not understand....
The spokeswoman for top rebel leader Alexander Zakharchenko declined to comment.

Bizarre headline. Arrest - and the first sentence says he's released.
Bulgaria said it would not accept flights unless the cargo was inspected.
The Greeks - they don't care less. As long as they get some money. Scumballs. No morals. In bed with the Russians for sure.
Absolutely. Ukraine needs support against the Russian war machine.

Basically, the Donbas Putin terrorists are not members of the OSCE.
Who will go?
Shaun Walker, and other Putin butt kissers, including...
French right wing MPs, and Left wing communists, Greek fascist party, Greek communist party members, ...
and anybody else who supports fascism or communism in Europe. Le Pen, for sure. We will find out in time...
Paradox. The Putin terrorists claim that they are fighting against fascism; but their main supporters - "election observers" will likely be fascist party members - or extreme right-wing to be politically correct - in Europe. That says it all to me.

The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin said that his department has information on the participation of Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk in the first Chechen war....
Yatsenyuk fought in Chechnya in the "punitive detachment" Argo "and then" Viking "under the leadership of the radical Alexander Muzychko known as Sashko Bilyi...

And they show this photo!!

I was actually looking for this photo, but for a joke!
Two serious points - if the Head of the RF investigative committee can come out with this sort of garbage, what chance is there of justice in Russia? None.
Secondly, it is not just the Lifenews joke media outlets who are reporting this - but Tass and all the others.
I cannot believe they are taking it seriously. It is not April 01.

You couldn't make it up!!! TASS - the Russian News Agency... they are totally round the bend.
The Russian media are taking this story seriously. Even the quasi-serious Russian media. TASS! Not some local rag. You can't take anything in any Russian news outlet seriously after this.

The BIS warns that "Russia continued its attempts to exert influence over the Russian community in the Czech Republic, or more specifically [tried] to establish pro-Kremlin organizations and individuals." To this end, it claims "Russia is creating a structure in Europe drawing on the concept of the [Soviet] Comintern (the Communist International)."...
That can be a useful asset,.. but ...only at a cost. The cost is .. in credibility and legitimacy. The more the Kremlin relies on such methods, the more toxic it makes its own brand.

Not a lot in the article, to be honest.
Better to look at
and click on Group C.
Ukraine, I think currently the best points for 3rd place - the best 3rd place team qualify automatically.
Unfortunately I expect Croatia in Group H to overtake them on points. They have two easy games. Ukraine, unfortunately, have to play Spain in their last match.
“The major impediments” to peace are the presence of foreign fighters, the flow of sophisticated and heavy weaponry from Russia, and Ukraine’s lack of control over its eastern border with Russia, the report said.
