NATO Secretary-General called on the Russian Federation to withdraw its recognition of independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg before a meeting of the NATO-Georgia Commission again called on Russia to withdraw its recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia as independent states, transfers "RIA Novosti".

"It is important to strengthen the security of Georgia and support its Euro-Atlantic aspirations ... She has a right to determine their own future and security measures," - said Jens Stoltenberg.

According to him, "the Russian Federation is still violates the Georgian border."

"NATO urges the Russian Federation to withdraw recognition of the Georgian regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states", - said the secretary general.

"At the summit in Wales NATO promised Georgia a significant package of support, and we are doing this (promise)," - said the Secretary General.

According to him, "Georgia also kept their promises, continuing the reform process."

He noted that the Alliance is committed to further strengthen cooperation with the country.
