Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, commenting on the possibility of resumption of the Russia-NATO Council, said that Moscow has never refused to work in this and other formats, reports Tass

"I learned that the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg proposed to convene a NATO-Russia Council, as I understand it, at the level of permanent representatives. Russia has never refused to work in this and other formats ", - he said.

Most importantly, according to the Russian Foreign Minister, "not to allow a departure from the key principles laid down in the framework of relations with NATO - the principle of equal and indivisible security, as no one should in the Euro-Atlantic strengthen their security at the expense of security of others."

Earlier on Wednesday at a press conference in Brussels, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that in the spring of last year, NATO decided to terminate practical cooperation with Russia over the Russian annexation of the Crimea.

"However, we decided to keep the communication channels open, one of these channels was the NATO-Russia Council, which meets", - he said.

NATO Secretary General stressed that the need to learn how to use the Council as an instrument for political cooperation.

The publication writes that the December 2, 2015 German Foreign Minister called for the restoration of NATO-Russia Council.
