In the first nine months of the year, 2.3 million more Russians fell into poverty, as Russia continues to experience economic recession, according to data released by the Rosstat state statistics service on Thursday.
===
20.3 million now with an income below 140 dollars a month.
That is sure to make Putin even more popular. Expect his popularity to be in the 90s for the next "survey".

How to Ignore a Corruption Scandal, Kremlin Style [Engl]

Post by Nelson on Fri Dec 11, 2015 1:51 am

http://www.themoscowtimes.com/news/article/how-to-ignore-a-corruption-scandal-kremlin-style/552429.html
...It also linked Chaika's son, Artyom, to the expropriation of a shipping company in the Far East whose director was allegedly strangled, and documented the apparent rigging of auctions for lucrative state contracts by Artyom's brother, Igor. ....The reaction is a familiar one in Russia, where almost every member of elite that emerged from the 1990s had dealings with organized crime. News that officials are corrupt surprised few — particularly in the Kremlin.
===
Some good stuff in the Moscow Times today. Personally I expect Putin to slowly shut it down.

Work?

Cell phones, tablet computers, newspapers and chattering FIRST and then, with some luck, a few minutes work before the lunch break of several hours. During that few minutes work, the majority can be seen on their phones, playing games on tablets and, as ever, chattering with anyone who will listen.

Cell phones, tablet computers, laptops, newspapers SHOULD BE BANNED from the Rada and then perhaps this bunch of sorry cretins can focus on the needs of the people who voted them in, fairly or unfairly, and get Ukraine moving in the right direction.

Moscow is trying to avoid responsibility for the annexation of the Crimea and Donbas war

Post by Admin on Fri Dec 11, 2015 11:20 am

Annexation of the Crimea was the culmination of forming bandit neofeodalizmu in. He exhausted the internal resources for their own legitimization.

Russian State Duma voted for the abolition of the priority of international law. Constitutional Court of the country plan to grant the right to carry out verdicts not allow international courts. Parliamentarians and government officials say that the adoption of this law will not affect the investment climate and political situation, but such words cause only irony. No one would invest in a country that in no way protected private property. Moscow is trying to avoid responsibility for the annexation of Ukrainian territory, the war in Donbas, persecution of Ukrainian activists, adventure in Syria. On account of the Kremlin's huge list of crimes committed within the country and abroad.

Recently we wrote that "Krymnash" initiated the rolling of the level of North Korea - a country that has dissociated ourselves from the world and ignores the civilized rules of the game. N "legislators" are ahead of schedule. The said bill still pass through the Council and get Federation President Vladimir Putin's signature. Too many facts indicate that the head neighboring state will approve the document. The reason is simple: it is extremely beneficial to him personally. Putin and his entourage are struggling to avoid responsibility for their actions.

The effects of geopolitical adventurism in Ukraine and Syria aggravated criminal cases, investigating European police. British and Spanish investigators gathered information about the involvement of Russian top management to criminal gangs, drug trafficking and contract killings. In the US Congress have demanded from the management intelligence to report on the financing of the Kremlin political killings outside.

Phasing out of international law dictated all "postkrymskoyu" logic of Russian politics. Capturing the Ukrainian territory, the Kremlin has not only violated its own laws and constitution, but also a number of international norms and agreements. Annexation of the Crimea was the culmination of forming bandit neo-federalism in. He exhausted the internal resources for their own legitimacy............................

Ukraine is not punishing its criminals. The West is getting tired of nagging it....
As justice fails to materialise, many in Kiev have come to blame not just Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, whose authority eroded earlier this year, but Mr Poroshenko as well. “The guys who came to power weren’t the ones who should have,” says Volodymyr Bondarchuk, whose father Sergiy, a high-school physics teacher, was also killed last year. “Their goals are far from the ideals of the Maidan.”

Putin’s nuclear blackmail indicates his bankruptcy – Russian expert

Post by Admin on Fri Dec 11, 2015 12:12 pm

Recent declarations by Pres Putin and his insiders about the likely use of nuclear weapons to resolve local conflicts are indications of Kremlin’s bankruptcy, Russia-based journalist Andrei Piontkovski said in The Apostrof Dec. 10.

Such declarations are in glaring discrepancy with Russia’s official military doctrine which stipulates that Russia can use its nuclear weapons only if attacked by nuclear weapons or if under massive attack of enemy conventional forces posing a threat to the country’s existence, the expert says.

“For instance, if China’s 5-million strong army is advancing on the Urals. However, the nuclear weapons cannot be used in a local or regional conflict, like the one involving Turkey,” Piontkovski argues.

Kremlin’s nuclear blackmail counters all international agreements on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons signed by Russia, he says.

Russia’s threat to blow up the Bosporus with a nuke and wash Istanbul away from the surface of the earth is a clear violation of the non-proliferation agreement, the expert stresses.

Such role fully discredits Putin’s flirtations with the West aimed at becoming a coalition member in exchange for concessions, Andrei Piontkovski says.

Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said during a meeting of the UN Security Council in New York, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

"I urge the Security Council once again to take the lead in creation of such a mission," Klimkin said.

He recalled that in March, Ukraine has officially requested the United Nations to deploy a peacekeeping operation to ensure the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Klimkin said that comprehensive international action is required to ensure sustainable de-escalation of the situation in Ukraine.

According to the minister, the UN peacekeeping mission or the extension of the Special Monitoring Mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE SMM) will ensure the implementation of such provisions of the Minsk agreements as the disarmament of illegal armed groups, monitoring and verification of the withdrawal of the Russian troops and weapons, delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid, and will provide necessary conditions for local elections in accordance with OSCE standards.

Ash – Updated thoughts on Ukraine - December 11, 2015

Post by Admin on Fri Dec 11, 2015 9:54 pm

Ash: “…there is perhaps no other way to read the assault on the prime minister than a now concerted effort to undermine his credibility (further in some peoples’ minds), and this indeed does appear to be part of a campaign.”

LONDON, Dec 11, 2015 (UBO) – Responding to today’s chaotic events at heart of Ukraine’s government structures, Nomura International economist Timothy Ash offered the following comments at 17:51 today:

I guess reflecting on the pretty disturbing scenes in parliament today – in what democracy do we see legislators manhandle each other in such a way and remember the recipient of this particular assault was the prime minister? – a few conclusions can be drawn:

First, the fact that the individual manhandling the prime minister today came from the Block Petro Poroshenko (BPP) just underscores that President Poroshenko has pretty loose control over his own party – which is pretty much a loose association of individuals/business interests who opted to attach themselves to the Poroshenko brand, after the latter’s victory in the May 2014 presidential election. This loose party discipline was also perhaps evident in the way that the BPP earlier tabled those IMF-programme busting tax proposals which, while subsequently being rolled back after the intervention of the president himself in the National Reform Council (NRC), I think did much to undermine morale amongst the reform team in government. It is indeed a pretty strange way to show support for your person (Jaresko) in the ministry of finance by even allowing senior figures in your own party to undermine her in such a way. Perhaps it can be sold as all part of the democratic process – and there needs to be a thorough debate about key issues such as tax/spend, but surely the earlier IMF friendly version was already discussed within the administration, and hence should surely already have had support in the presidency and the BPP. Perhaps all this was about undermining Yatsenyuk’s authority over the economic reform agenda in the end, and allowing the president to show that he in fact controls that same agenda?

Second, the above raises concern whether BPP deputies can be trusted to rally in behind the tax, budget code and also any confidence motion called in the government.

Third, there is perhaps no other way to read the assault on the prime minister than a now concerted effort to undermine his credibility (further in some peoples’ minds), and this indeed does appear to be part of a campaign. Other ministers, even the NBU governor, have also been subjected to fairly disrespectful (hostile) treatment in the VR. More specifically with respect to Yatsenyuk we would highlight allegations of corruption made against some of those seen as being close to the prime minister, seemingly partially by the rival reform team in Odessa headed by former Georgian president, Mikheil Saakashvili. Saakashvili himself has been named as a potential replacement for Yatsenyuk. Note also that Rinat Akhmetov’s SCM buildings have been subject to demonstrations recently – Yatsenyuk has historically been seen as having strong ties into the Akhmetov camp – albeit Ukrainian oligarchs tend to spread their patronage wide amongst Ukraine’s political elites.

But it does appear evident that there is now a fairly concerted campaign to oust Yatsenyuk – who still appears to be being resolutely backed by the US administration, and this appeared to be affirmed this week during the visit of US president Joe Biden to Kyiv. The message therein was don’t rock the boat at this stage by changing the government – aside that is from some likely cabinet changes..........................
