The conservation law states that if something somewhere is coming, it is certainly somewhere decreases. Now there are reports that the borders of Ukraine and in general, the European part of Russia, moving troops from Siberia, mainly - from the Baikal region. In soviet times, the Trans-Baikal was stuffed troops and fortified military bases. This was due to the proximity of the Chinese border, and bitter experience, when the Chinese are very quick transition from the category of "brothers" in the category of "enemies."

Tellingly, the Soviet army was opposed by the PLA, which had a much worse equipped exclusively advantage in manpower. Absolutely all arms SA ahead of more than a generation Chinese. However, the scoop was very serious about the possibility of a conflict on this site. Such attention was due to the fact that from the lake and to the Far East, there is only one railway line, on which it is possible to throw military supplies. Later it was built the Baikal-Amur Mainline, but it was put under the veil of a scoop and did not work as planned, because its track was a lot of temporary structures, which required many years bringing to mind. In fact, China is sufficient to cut the two lines of iron roads and everything to the east - by itself will fall into their hands. According to common understanding, re-sophisticated weapons of the PLA, which should cause more concern on the part of the Russian Federation. Besides the Army, China has reversed its border infrastructure. Now, near the border with the Russian Federation - an extensive network of roads and railways. Any military will say that part of the road have a pronounced rokadny character. That is, China already has the army, equipped with the best Russian, more numerous, and cross-border communication prepared for the possibility of a war of maneuver. In this situation, the Russian Federation simply must have something adequate for its side of the border.........................

Moscow is concerned by the lack of progress in the negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement - the position of the Ukrainian authorities on this issue has a negative impact on the situation in the region.

Russia's State Secretary, Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin told Interfax, Censor.NET reports.

"The evolution of Kyiv's position on the Transnistrian settlement has also been featured by delaying of appointment of the new political representative of the Ukrainian side in the negotiations in the "5+2" format since May 2015. The concern is also raised by the fact that not a single meeting has been held within the negotiation process in 2015," Karasin said.

He accused Kyiv of deviation from "impartial mediation in the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol," "intimidation of the international community by the alleged military threat posed by Transnistria, explicit economic and transport "smothering" of the Transnistrian region".

"This pressure has substantially aggravated the already difficult socio-economic situation in Transnistria," the Russian diplomat said.

According to Grigory Karasin, the tension may escalate "after the implementation of plans of Moldova and Ukraine on the organization of the joint customs and border control in relation to Transnistria".

"In particular, this means that the decision of the Ukrainian and Moldovan parties will change the procedure of delivery of goods imported in Transnistria from Jan. 1, 2016. According to Tiraspol, the additional tax burden on the Transnistrian enterprises will exceed $4 million," Deputy Foreign Minister said.

Censor.NET Chief Editor Yurii Butusov noted: "Ukraine has administered the first blow to the economy of Transnistria Jan. 1. That's the way to go!"

"The Ukrainian authorities have made an essential step in 2016, and it is worth of public attention: it is necessary to support the initiative of the president, prime minister and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ukraine has made a first step towards restoring order in the territory of Transnistria occupied by the Russian troops. I have repeatedly stressed why this is of strategic importance. The most important thing is that Ukraine is able to completely block Transnistria, in contrast to Crimea and Donbas. This is the front where Ukraine can and must win in the first place. This region is fully subsidized by the Russian Federation, and any increase in spending in Transnistria will inflict damage to the Russian budget. So it is necessary to act decisively there - we have all the trumps in our hands," he stressed.

"Ukraine will actually benefit from the blockade of Transnistria since this region controlled by the Russian special services is the major source of contraband in our country. The Russian military base in Tiraspol distracts Ukrainian forces. There will be disorder there until Ukraine does not hand over all contacts of Transnistria with the outside world to the authorities of Moldova. Ukraine should introduce Moldovan border guards in its border-crossing points and thus restore the control of Moldova over the movement of goods and people across the Moldovan state border. The strategy of Ukraine should involve the "tactics of small cuts". The cost of war for Russia should be as high as possible. It should incur increasingly great economic, military, material losses and losses in manpower in its terrorist detachments every day," Butusov wrote. In Russian
Crimea, no longer a place of Putin’s victories, looks more like the venue of his defeats, Taras Berezovets, a renowned political expert, writes in Facebook Jan. 2.

Faced with the electricity cut-offs when Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian activists started blowing up electricity grid supports in mainland Ukraine leading to the peninsula, Vladimir Putin came up with yet another of his smart moves.

He generously offered Crimean residents to have a referendum on whether they want electricity supplies resumed on the Ukrainian terms (specifying that the electricity is sold to a temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine) or go without electricity for three months until Russia lays the electric cable across the Kerch straight.

Several hours after Putin voiced his offer, a puppet sociological service came up with the figure – 93% of Crimean residents are in favor of staying without electricity.

Why did Putin need the opinion survey? It looks, the Kremlin is tired of resolving Crimea’s problems. That is why Putin steps aside and hypocritically as usual passes the buck to Crimean residents.

Now, nobody can blame the dictator for dodging electricity negotiations with Ukraine and being tough on the Crimeans.

The new Crimea-tested technology of a “democratic” public opinion survey (with the results assured by the puppet think tank) can be disseminated, if need be, to Russia’s regions when pensioners will be asked to agree/ disagree with their pensions frozen because of increased military spending in Syria.

The hybrid war waged by Russia continues. Only now its technologies will be targeted inside Russia on its population.
...The ban on imports including beef, tobacco, chocolate, and alcohol products ...
Not a bad report by the Telegraph Moscow correspondent, and former RIA Novosti reporter, Oliphant.
Remember his boss, David Blair, is a complete nutcase when it comes to knowledge about eastern Europe. He described Ukraine as being "heavy-handed" fighting against Putin's 30,000 tanks. Blair - prathead brought up in Africa. Good on Africa. But absolutely cr@p on anywhere else.

Banned products. I would think that there is very little Russian beef or chocolate sold in Ukraine. Same with cheese, which is also banned.
Ukraine would do better to ban products that would hurt Russian trade.

Very run down area. Needs work. There was some talk about a budget airline working this place. Frankly the road links to Kiev are excellent. New road.
I would say about 75 minutes smooth bus ride to the metro - Zhitomirska - in Kiev. Also not a bad place to land if you are going to Vinnitsa, Berdichev, Xmelnitsky and other areas west of Kiev.
Supposedly Yanair want to set up here. Time will tell if the project "takes off" or not ))

Ukraine's natural gas reserves at the beginning of 2016 totaled 13.995 billion cubic meters, whereas a year earlier gas stocks in underground storage facilities amounted to 11.463 billion cubic meters.
Good news. At the moment it is cold. But the forecast for the middle of next week is near normal for this time of year.
So I expect gas consumption for the past week to be high, but hopefully next week it will moderate. About -15 where I am now. Normal might be -4.
