Adidas breaks sponsorship contract with the IAAF for doping scandal

Post by Admin on Sun Jan 24, 2016 9:24 pm

Adidas sportswear manufacturer intends to terminate a multimillion-dollar sponsorship contract with the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) because of the doping scandal, reports the BBC.

The contract for up to 11 years, was due to expire in 2019, but Adidas has decided to complete his three years earlier.

The transaction value is estimated at least $ 33 million, and its termination can bring IAAF multimillion-dollar losses.

Adidas was the largest sponsor of the International Association of Athletics Federations.

Official confirmation from Adidas and from the IAAF has yet been received.

Sources Bi-bi-si said that the reason for early termination of the contract was the doping scandal involving the Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF).

In November last year, the commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) recommended by the IAAF to disqualify VFLA for systematic violations related to doping athletes.

In January, the commission WADA also published a report on corruption in the previous head of the IAAF Lamine Diack organization.
