Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has stressed the need to strip judges in Ukraine of immunity, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

He insists that judges must be brought to justice if they commit corruption crimes.

"We need to eliminate judicial immunity. They should not be held liable only for the decisions they take, but [should be punished] for the bribes they take – excuse me," Poroshenko said.................
The lead spokeswoman for newly installed EU foreign policy chief Frederica Mogherini is married to a partner in a Brussels public relations firm that lobbies for Russian state-owned natural-gas monopoly Gazprom.

Spokesperson Catherine Ray married Thomas Barros-Tastets in France on October 19, 2013. Barros-Tastets is a partner in the Brussels branch of the G+ lobbying firm. His online biography states that he "helps to coordinate the European part of a worldwide consortium which advises a major international energy company on communications and public affairs."

Although the "major international energy company" is not named, Barros-Tastets is frequently referenced in the media as "a consultant in European public affairs for Gazprom." An August 2013 announcement that he was appointed a partner at G+ states that he "is an adviser to Gazprom in its dealings with the EU competition authorities."

The EU's Transparency Register lists "Diversified Energy Communications (for Gazprom Export)" as one of G+'s major clients, generating annual turnover of between 300,000 and 350,000 euros. Barros-Tastets is listed there as one of the firm's employees "accredited for access to European Parliament premises."

Barros-Tastets was seen in the company of Russian Energy Minister Aleksandr Novak in Brussels on October 29, when Novak was in town for gas negotiations with EU and Ukrainian officials.............. In Russian

Less money for Putin's war machine.
Looking at the currency markets, the dollar has fallen a lot against the euro in the past couple of weeks.
And I can't understand why.

.....It comes a year after a discussion paper endorsed by Mogherini that suggested a proactive approach toward Russia, just as the separatists were launching an offensive near the crucial government-held city of Mariupol. She has kept a low profile since then on issues involving the EU's eastern neighbors, and it is unclear how much traction the new initiative will pick up....

I've read elsewhere that there have been a number of arrests.
You are simply NOT allowed to protest in North Korea, or in Russia.

Interesting rundown on recent Kremlin "stories".
Pursuant to an order by Russian President Vladimir Putin, at 4 a.m. on Feb. 8, this year's first comprehensive snap combat readiness check of the Russian Armed Forces began. Russia’s southern military district and certain units of the Airborne Troops and military-transport aviation were engaged, including 8,500 servicemen, more than 900 units of combat and special vehicles, 200 aircraft and helicopters, and 50 ships.

As reported by Censor.NET citing National Security and Defense Council press service, this was announced by NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov.

"Officially, the drills are aimed at assessing the readiness of control bodies to direct troops (forces) in the course of their deployment as well to ensure the interaction and combat employment of joint force grouping.

"The check will encompass full alert drills for certain kinds of troops (forces) as well as ingress of units to operational areas; transportation of troops over long (up to 3,000 km) distances by rail and air; aviation readiness; protection of important military and state facilities.

"On Feb. 9 this year, naval search strike groups as well as naval strike groups of the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Fleet began to "implement tasks to ensure favorable operational regime in the Black and Caspian seas.

"Minesweeper groups in cooperation with naval aviation are engaged in submarine and mine search drills. Support ships are ready to provide resources at sea. All these military exercises are conducted in the vicinity of the eastern border of our country. Moreover, in the framework of the said check, the so-called 1st and 2nd Army Corps stationed in the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions also do drills. This fact once again proves the occupation forces to be an integral part of the Russian army.

"Finally, we can say that the Russian Armed Forces, along with the 1st and 2nd Army Corps and other units of the occupation forces deployed in the temporarily uncontrolled territory of Ukraine, are actively preparing for an aggressive military onslaught, which poses direct threat to our country," the statement reads. Quite a long - 20 pages - paper about the situation in the Donbass. Short extract -
The largely poorly-led and disciplined DNR/LNR militias have been reorganised by
Russian officers and subsumed into a formal military structure. From the battalion
level up, Russian officers now command the separatist units, with former local commanders
sometimes acting as deputies.34 As a result of the reorganisation, major DNR
players like Zakharchenko and Khodakovsky have lost control over most of their
large, well-armed personal forces.35 Some local leaders say that since reorganisation,
even their access to former military units is limited. A politician and brigade commander
told a recent visitor he had difficulty travelling to the front line: Russians
were in command, and access was “complicated”.
.....Moscow’s desire for sanctions to be lifted as soon as possible will be an important
factor in the next stage of the Minsk talks, but Moscow is keen to shift responsibility
for next steps to Kyiv
. The second and decisive Ukrainian parliament vote on constitutional
changes should by law have been held no later than early February. The
changes, which Minsk stipulates should be “permanent” (постояное), include “an
element of decentralisation” that takes into consideration the “specificities of certain
districts of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts”.80 The wording has divided Ukrainian
political opinion, and President Poroshenko has been unable to gather the needed
support. A final vote is unlikely before summer 2016, and Russia is already accusing
Ukraine of dragging its feet. ....
The issue of Ukraine is included on the agenda of NATO policy and meetings with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko are expected.
As reported by Censor.NET citing Ukrinform, this was announced by NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg at a news conference in Brussels on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

"We pay attention to and continue supporting Ukraine. We are rendering political and practical support for Ukraine," the head of the Alliance said.

Stoltenberg also noted he was looking forward to next meetings with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. In Russian
I am sure there are lots and lots of weapons for sale now in Ukraine. But selling a gun at the fruit market - probably not a good idea )

Also, they only seem to be selling tickets in the central portions of the stadium now.

Example of a ticket -

Lutsenko: Three factions don’t see Yatsenyuk prime minister; political crisis hits Coalition
"Unfortunately, I must testify that we have a 100% complete political crisis in the coalition and the coalition government," Lutsenko said.
He noted that the People's Front faction has only one ultimatum, and it regards Yatsenyuk remaining on post of the prime minister. "On the other hand, there are three factions now which are categorical that the prime minister must not be Yatsenyuk," Lutsenko said.
[Tymoshenko’s Batkivshchyna, Samopomich and the Radical Party]
In addition, he noted that today's statement by the leader of the Radical Party, Oleh Lyashko, means that "a potential Prime Minister Yatsenyuk has no votes to pass legislation."...

Headline was in poor English, so I altered it slightly.
This is a serious problem. Replacing the PM will do nothing. Populism and stupidity, but such is Ukraine and its politics.

Video here from Russian tv.
On twitter Steve Rosenberg had felt he was being followed - and he was right.
A Russian tv crew cornered him, and then produced the typical cuckoo report attacking the west.
Rosenberg speaks well (basically, your people have said it is a "difficult" time economically, and we report on what we see) - but the Russian tv, of course, add all the Putin propaganda.

All of Putin's own doing. Making the whole world turn away from Russia, and for obvious reasons.
