FIFA will allow football videopovtory

Post by Admin on Sat Mar 05, 2016 7:36 pm

The International Football Association Board (IFAB, an organization that develops and standardizes the laws of the game) allowed judges to use video replays in order to avoid mistakes in their decisions.

According to the BBC, on Saturday at a meeting of IFAB Council it was decided to launch this innovation to the season 2017-2018 years. At the same time we received the application for testing the system from 12 national leagues and one confederation. The use of video replays judges will be limited to the following cases: a goal, foul in the penalty area, the removal of a player or that player is not a punishment.

IFAB FIFA combines (four votes) and four British associations (one vote). A decision had to collect six votes, so without the consent of FIFA's introduction of video replays would be impossible.

However, the new head of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, is of the opinion that the use of modern technology in football is inevitable. He has called the decision to introduce video replays "historic".

However, he believes that technology should not jeopardize the pace of the game, so videopovtory first have to pass the "run-in". For the same reason, replays will not be used in the disputed points concerning, for example, pulled up for offside, unless they resulted in a goal.

Also repetitions, it was decided to cancel the "rule of triple punishment". This applies when a defending player in the penalty area hit by the enemy (in the struggle, and not intentionally). IFAB decided to remove for such a violation is not: a penalty and possible goals - a sufficient punishment.

In the future, we plan to make a few changes in the rules of football. Including considering the possibility of introducing the fourth substitution in extra time.

Recall that in most team sports - ice hockey, volleyball, tennis, rugby, American football - videopovtory has long been embraced. Even in basketball, where disputes occur less frequently than in football, sometimes resorting to aid. In Russian
