News -
Russia attacks 76 times. Another increase. Getting worse and worse.
Update - 4 soldiers wounded. No dead.

Weather -
Beautiful. Very warm overnight. +9. High today maybe 22. Normal would be 12. Update - high of 23.

Dutch referendum -
From what I gather this vote is more about exercising "real democracy" in Holland - nothing to do with Ukraine.
A sort of protest vote against EU bureaucracy. Vote takes place today. I expect a "no" vote. But -
Update - Ipsos poll saying a big No vote, and turnout at 32%. They earlier stated 29%.
These figure contrast starkly with earlier turnout figures suggesting 15%. (see my earlier posts below.) A bit strange.
If true - big problems for the Dutch government. And Ukraine also. Renegotiation?! Could be months of delays.
Dutch parties have said that they will respect the vote, if over 30%.

In some large municipalities are votes counted in the referendum. Below Groningen, Arnhem, Lelystad, Hilversum and Sittard-Geleen, the results are known.
Only in Groningen, a majority of 63.1 percent for the treaty. In the other large municipalities, a majority voted against. Only in Arnhem, the turnout was 27.6 percent behind. Groningen was 32 percent, 34 percent Lelystad, Hilversum 35.9 percent and 31.6 percent Sittard-Geleen.
At 22.15 was 12.6 percent of all votes counted. At that time, the intermediate was 62.8 percent vs. 36.6 percent and for. The turnout was 32.7 percent. The figures can not yet be concluded on the final outcome. That could take hours.
Exit Poll: 32 percent turnout
According to an exit poll by Ipsos, the turnout at 32 percent, with a margin of error of 3 percentage points. The referendum is only valid if the 30 percent threshold is met.
In the same exit poll Ipsos concludes that 64 percent voted against the treaty with Ukraine at 36 percent.

Looking like a nightmare for the Dutch government, and for Ukraine.
The Dutch will have to "renegotiate" with the EU and with Ukraine?! Crazy.

Prime Minister Rutte believes that the ratification of the treaty with Ukraine can not simply go on longer if the turnout threshold of 30 percent was achieved. He acknowledges that a large majority of people who voted rejects the treaty.

The prime minister emphasized still it is not yet certain that the 30 percent threshold is indeed achieved, but if so, it must have consequences according to him.

According to Rutte should then be discussed with various authorities about such as the EU and the parliament. "We will really take our time. This is a process of weeks."

Sorry for the online translation. But Dutch is beyond me.
Sociological company of Ipsos, which conducted exit-poll in the referendum in the Netherlands, has published updated data. It is reported by "European truth" .

According to Ipsos, voter turnout significantly and reached a rate of 32% in the last period of voting.

The results of the referendum have not changed. As before, it is about 64% of those who vote against the association with Ukraine, and 36% of the vote.

If such a turnout would be officially confirmed, it would mean devastating for Ukrainian referendum result. In Russian/русский
The image of Russia as weak and withdrawn from the international arena is wrong, writes Eugene Rumer.

Moscow is out to change the world order, according to General Philip Breedlove, Nato’s military commander. The entire American military establishment has designated Russia the biggest threat to the US. In response, the Pentagon is beefing up its troops, armour and artillery in eastern Europe, and wants an additional $3.4bn to pay for it.

Meanwhile Barack Obama, the US president, says Russia is “overextended and bleeding” in Syria, and its economy is shrinking “drastically”. The nation is dismissed by others as “a hollow superpower” with no real strategy behind its overseas adventures.

So which picture is accurate? Both. The economy is shrinking. Poverty is on the rise. Without deep, wide-ranging reforms — which few expect on Vladimir Putin’s watch — its prospects are bleak. The president could legally remain in the Kremlin for many years to come, presiding over stagnation at home and, by way of compensation, a confrontational posture abroad......................

Updated - from the same source - Ipsos. Now say turnout is 32%.
According to Ipsos is the attendance rate of 32 percent. The referendum is only valid if the turnout threshold of 30 percent is achieved.
But the turnout there is a margin of error of 3 percentage points. That is, after counting all votes the turnout 3 percent or 3 percent may be lower than in the first exit poll.

If this is true.... what will the Dutch government do?!
Maybe renegotiate with Ukraine. This could take many months. And delay the agreement.
Please note -
the post above - is updated from the 29% turnout originally stated.
Most newspaper reports are currently giving the first stated figure of 29%. But Ipsos are now putting turnout at 32%. +/- 3%.
Margin of error for the result is put at 5%.
THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — The result from an exit poll is too close to call if enough people have voted in a Dutch referendum on a free trade pact between the European Union and Ukraine, a vote seen as underscoring deep-rooted skepticism about this country's place in Europe.
According to the exit poll conducted by Ipsos for national broadcaster NOS, turnout was 29 percent. The poll had a margin of error of 3 percent for the turnout, which would need to reach 30 percent for the vote to be valid.
The poll was taken at 40 polling stations where around 80,000 voters were registered....

That means that the early voting figures were way way out. Right on the border line!

Yes - you have until 21.00. About another 4 minutes.
Looks like Wilders realises now the turnout is way down on what he was hoping for.
....For the ballot to be valid there has to be at least a 30 percent turnout of the 12.5 million people eligible to vote.
Dutch media said only about 10 to 15 percent of voters had cast their ballots in the major cities.
A Dutch "No" to the two-year-old treaty with Kiev could pose a headache for the European Union (EU) and is being closely watched by Moscow as well....

15 minutes to go before the polls close.
and then we will know how many idiots there are in Holland. My best guess - 1 million idiots.
Which would mean that 90% of the population are sane.
Netherlands votes on EU-Ukraine trade agreement

What has this vote got to do with Russia?
Imperial Russia still thinks it controls Ukraine. It does not. 10,000 dead bodies testify to that fact.
The Russia scumballs simply can't keep their nose out of Ukraine's business. Scum. Pure scum.
Turnout was sluggish during the day, with only 13.7% of voters casting their ballot in the capital, Amsterdam, by 18:00 (16:00 GMT). In Rotterdam the number was above 17%.
....The Dutch Ukraine referendum campaign may be a manifestation of various neuroses, but the cold hard fact is that it victimises a state, one grappling with both internal challenges, as a newly vibrant civil society squares up to the corruption and cronyism of the old guard, and external military and economic assault by Europe’s largest country, Russia. It’s worth repeating that a conservative estimate puts the number of lives lost in the conflict in Eastern Ukraine at 9000 (already as many deaths as in the Srebrenica massacre, etched in the Dutch consciousness). It also bears repeating that 193 of those lives lost were Dutch lives, aboard MH17, shot down by a Russian forces blunder as Russia attempted to up the ante by bringing in some new hardware in the form of the BUK missile system. Ukraine had had no reason to close its civilian airspace up until then as it was the less capable MANPAD system, not BUK, which had shot down several Ukrainian military planes in the preceding weeks.

Quite frankly, trying to blame Ukraine for MH17 is utterly cynical and duplicitous. It would be like blaming the death of Anne Frank on Holland rather than Nazi Germany. Another nee-sayer told me that corruption in Ukraine was a reason to tear up the agreement, despite the fact that doing more business with Europe would surely be a positive tool for reducing these tendencies. No chance. Corruption is ‘in their DNA’ I was told. This deserves to be filed where it belongs, next to ‘all Muslims are extremists’. Let’s call it what it is. The Dutch Ukraine referendum is xenophobia at the ballot box....

Excellent article. British journalist based in Warsaw.

Dutch voters have so far given a resounding shoulder shrug in the Netherlands’ referendum on the EU’s controversial trade deal with Ukraine.
Turnout in most cities was running well short of the 30 per cent required to force the Dutch government to listen to the result. Although the vote is not legally binding, the leading Dutch political parties had agreed to abide by its result, reports Duncan Robinson.
In most cities, such as Amsterdam and Rotterdam, turnout was struggling to get above 15 per cent, according to one pollster. One tally in Amsterdam had the capital’s turnout at just 13.7 per cent. Other cities were more engaged, with turnout running at 20 per cent in The Hague, which is home to most of the Netherlands’ political institutions.
Rotten weather across much of the country was expected to deter many voters – and slightly favour the “against” camp, whose voters are more dedicated, according to pollsters.
Polls will not close until 9pm CET, with a comprehensive exit poll – which will include a turnout figure – published shortly after.

Amsterdam at 20.00 hrs. Weather - cold. 7C and rain.

this is what the Dutch voting slip looks like

Voor = For
THE HAGUE, Netherlands — Apr 6, 2016, 12:27 PM ET
....Exactly what will happen to the agreement if the Dutch vote against it remains unclear, but politicians all say Rutte's coalition government will have to take the result seriously. The advisory referendum is declared valid only if voter turnout is over 30 percent.

Rotterdam municipality reported that by 5 p.m. (1500 GMT), four hours before the closing of polls, turnout was 15.4 percent. In Amsterdam, it was 6.5 percent by 1 p.m. (1100 GMT). The Hague municipality said turnout was 15.7 percent by 4 p.m....

If below 30%, result is invalid. Soon we shall know.
Polls close at 2100 hrs Dutch time, 2200 Ukraine time. Less than 2 hours to go.
My guess - turnout of 23%. Or lower... It might not even get to 20%, looking at the latest figures. That would be good news for Ukraine. This country has suffered enough.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk suggests that import duty be lifted from used cars originating from all countries but Russia, according to an UNIAN correspondent....

A real two-faced jerk. Some days ago he states no Ukraine in the EU, then got pressure. Now he reverses himself. How embarrassing for the Netherlands.
....The referendum on Ukraine is not about the treaty. It is about testing Dutch public opinion on the EU in general. The campaign for a referendum was driven by anti-EU campaigners who have admitted they want to put pressure on the relationship between the Netherlands and the EU and deliberately looked for an issue they could use. I expect the Dutch government to approve the EU AA with Ukraine. Even if there is a "no" vote.

Asked about visa regime. He hopes things will be simplified.
Asked why he hasn't sold Roshen. He said that it is difficult to sell things when there is a war going on.
(In his defence, he did say that he would sell it - but that was before Putin started the Donbass war big time.)

One Russian journalist asked why he doesn't talk about the Donbass and when will there be elections there.
Poroshenko replied,
When you take your tanks, guns, artillery and soldiers out of Donbass, then we will see. What are you doing there? It is not your country. It is Ukraine. ...
