The UN Security Council on August 3 will hold an emergency meeting because of North Korea's launch of missiles that landed within Japanese territorial waters. The meeting convened at the request of the United States and Japan.
In Tokyo called this launch "outrageous act" and "mortal threat" to Japan.
Medium-range missiles flew about 620 miles and landed in the Sea of Japan after starting in the morning August 3.
South Korean military said the launch showed the ambitions of North Korea "immediately and massively to attack neighboring countries."
US Strategic Command noted that the data has two missiles, one of which exploded immediately after launch.
North Korea's military in July launched three missiles that flew more than 300 miles into the sea. Pyongyang threatened "physical response" to planned deployment of a missile defense system, as previously announced US and South Korea.
Launches of ballistic missiles in North Korea are contrary to UN Security Council sanctions.
