Report: Ukraine officials designated millions for Manafort

Donald Trump's campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, has been named in an investigation by Ukrainian authorities looking at whether he and others received millions in illegal payments from Ukraine's former pro-Russian ruling party, according to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.

The probe is part of a wider investigation by the bureau into allegations of corruption and influence peddling against ex-president Viktor Yanukovich's administration, for whom Manafort worked as a political consultant, before the leader's violent ouster in 2014.

The investigation is looking into "shadow accounting" and potentially illegal payments made by Yanukovich to Manafort and other Ukrainian election officials, according to Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption.

The announcement of the investigation follows a report published late Sunday by The New York Times, which first revealed that Ukrainian investigators had found Manafort's name included in an off-the-books, handwritten ledger detailing a series of secret payments -- among them, a $12.7 million payout to Manafort.

Daria Manzhura, head of external communications at the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, confirmed to CNN that Manafort's name is among those listed on a handwritten ledger. The organization noted, however, that the presence of Manafort's name on the list does not mean he received the money, and that the ledger does not contain his signature while others who were identified did sign it.

Responding to the initial report from the Times early Monday, Manafort called the report "unfounded, silly and nonsensical."...................

Russian opposition journalist: Trump threat to entire world order, as well as America itself

Should he win the US presidential election, Republican candidate Donald Trump will give Vladimir Putin carte blanche for further escalation of aggression in the post-Soviet space, well-known Russian opposition journalist Igor Yakovenko said in an interview.

“The inappropriate compliments that Trump and Putin have showered upon each other could somehow incite Trump supporters – as well as those who favor Russian annexation of the Crimea,” said Yakovenko.

He cited statements by Trump such as “the people of the Crimea prefer to be with Russia, rather than where they were before” and “Ukraine – it’s a mess.”

Yakovenko suggests Trump’s assuming power could disrupt the Western world, giving Putin carte blanche for further escalation of aggression within the former Soviet Union. Yakovenko also cites Trump’s now infamous “Russia, if you’re listening” request for Russia to continue hacking the e-mail of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) as evidence that Trump may be a threat not only to US national security, “but the security of the entire civilized world.”

This writer points out: Trump’s danger to the United States lies not only in the fact that he actually encourages a hostile state to increase its spying against his own country. Serious problems with the moral character of the candidate pose a threat

“The inappropriate compliments that Trump and Putin have showered upon each other could somehow incite Trump supporters – as well as those who favor Russian annexation of the Crimea,” said Yakovenko. He cited statements by Trump such as “the people of the Crimea prefer to be with Russia, rather than where they were before” and “Ukraine – it’s a mess.”....................

Putin seeks to give occupied territories back on conditions unacceptable to Ukraine, - Tuka

Putin has his own rules that are unacceptable to Ukraine. A full-scale strategic invasion of the Russian Federation is out of question.
Deputy Minister of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons Heorhii Tuka said on air of 5 Channel, Censor.NET reports.

"Putin's main objective, I am absolutely convinced, is not the seizure of new territories. Russia has choked on the piece it has snatched and can do nothing about it. He seeks to give back the occupied territories, in particular, the Donbas, on his own terms that are unacceptable to us. This is the key reason for the ongoing confrontation," the official stressed.

"This is only the rhetoric that surrounds the Minsk talks about possible severance of diplomatic relations, about Russia's statements on quitting the Minsk format or not willing to any longer control the terrorists. After that, they [Russia - ed.] are back again and still ready to influence them [separatists - ed.]. It's all a kind of muscle-flexing," Tuka summed up. In Ukrainian/український
