Putin seeks to give occupied territories back on conditions unacceptable to Ukraine, - Tuka

Post by Admin on Tue Aug 16, 2016 9:18 am

Putin seeks to give occupied territories back on conditions unacceptable to Ukraine, - Tuka

Putin has his own rules that are unacceptable to Ukraine. A full-scale strategic invasion of the Russian Federation is out of question.
Deputy Minister of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons Heorhii Tuka said on air of 5 Channel, Censor.NET reports.

"I would not want to go into detail regarding the reasons. As for tactical provocations, such as the seizure of some town or village, they are quite possible," he noted.

See more: "We are building Fifth Reich, Rus the Icon is saving West from decay!" - Putin's friend during grand bike show in occupied Sevastopol. VIDEO

"Putin's main objective, I am absolutely convinced, is not the seizure of new territories. Russia has choked on the piece it has snatched and can do nothing about it. He seeks to give back the occupied territories, in particular, the Donbas, on his own terms that are unacceptable to us. This is the key reason for the ongoing confrontation," the official stressed.

"This is only the rhetoric that surrounds the Minsk talks about possible severance of diplomatic relations, about Russia's statements on quitting the Minsk format or not willing to any longer control the terrorists. After that, they [Russia - ed.] are back again and still ready to influence them [separatists - ed.]. It's all a kind of muscle-flexing," Tuka summed up.

Russian opposition journalist: Trump threat to entire world order, as well as America itself

Russian opposition journalist: Trump threat to entire world order, as well as America itself

Should he win the US presidential election, Republican candidate Donald Trump will give Vladimir Putin carte blanche for further escalation of aggression in the post-Soviet space, well-known Russian opposition journalist Igor Yakovenko said in an interview.

“The inappropriate compliments that Trump and Putin have showered upon each other could somehow incite Trump supporters – as well as those who favor Russian annexation of the Crimea,” said Yakovenko.

He cited statements by Trump such as “the people of the Crimea prefer to be with Russia, rather than where they were before” and “Ukraine – it’s a mess.”

Yakovenko suggests Trump’s assuming power could disrupt the Western world, giving Putin carte blanche for further escalation of aggression within the former Soviet Union. Yakovenko also cites Trump’s now infamous “Russia, if you’re listening” request for Russia to continue hacking the e-mail of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) as evidence that Trump may be a threat not only to US national security, “but the security of the entire civilized world.”

This writer points out: Trump’s danger to the United States lies not only in the fact that he actually encourages a hostile state to increase its spying against his own country. Serious problems with the moral character of the candidate pose a threat

“The inappropriate compliments that Trump and Putin have showered upon each other could somehow incite Trump supporters – as well as those who favor Russian annexation of the Crimea,” said Yakovenko. He cited statements by Trump such as “the people of the Crimea prefer to be with Russia, rather than where they were before” and “Ukraine – it’s a mess.”....................

Progress made in organizing prisoner swap talks with DPR and LPR leaders - Savchenko

Progress made in organizing prisoner swap talks with DPR and LPR leaders - Savchenko

"The process has got off the ground. I can say that progress has been made and negotiations will be held. I have no more comments to make because everything that goes to the media space is very rapidly distorted. No one discloses plans before war," Savchenko said in an interview with the Ukrainian online newspaper Apostrophe.

When asked whether she was content with the course of developments, Savchenko said that "it could be moving faster if no one was hindering it, but, in principle, I am satisfied."

It was reported earlier that Savchenko had announced her readiness to visit the territories in eastern Ukraine not controlled by Kyiv in order to hold talks with their leaders.

Savchenko said on June 7 that the Ukrainian side should establish direct dialogue with representatives of the self-proclaimed Donetsk (DPR) and Luhansk (LPR) People's Republics to resolve the issue of the Donbas region's return. She also said she was ready to hold negotiations..............

Report: Ukraine officials designated millions for Manafort

Post by Admin on Tue Aug 16, 2016 9:50 am

Report: Ukraine officials designated millions for Manafort

Donald Trump's campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, has been named in an investigation by Ukrainian authorities looking at whether he and others received millions in illegal payments from Ukraine's former pro-Russian ruling party, according to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.

The probe is part of a wider investigation by the bureau into allegations of corruption and influence peddling against ex-president Viktor Yanukovich's administration, for whom Manafort worked as a political consultant, before the leader's violent ouster in 2014.

The investigation is looking into "shadow accounting" and potentially illegal payments made by Yanukovich to Manafort and other Ukrainian election officials, according to Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption.

The announcement of the investigation follows a report published late Sunday by The New York Times, which first revealed that Ukrainian investigators had found Manafort's name included in an off-the-books, handwritten ledger detailing a series of secret payments -- among them, a $12.7 million payout to Manafort.

Daria Manzhura, head of external communications at the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, confirmed to CNN that Manafort's name is among those listed on a handwritten ledger. The organization noted, however, that the presence of Manafort's name on the list does not mean he received the money, and that the ledger does not contain his signature while others who were identified did sign it.

Responding to the initial report from the Times early Monday, Manafort called the report "unfounded, silly and nonsensical."...................

Russia actively increasing number of weapons in Crimea - Ukraine intelligence

"Active militarization of occupied Crimea is ongoing and new weapons systems and military equipment, which come from the Russian Federation, are being deployed there – all this is aimed at making Crimea a military base. As of today, what is most threatening for Ukraine is the supply of the latest tools that can carry nuclear weapons – this is at the first place. Second is the increase in the number of submarines, frigates and missile boats, which can use the latest missile systems such as Kalibr. In addition, escalation in the use of combat aircraft, which can work almost throughout Ukraine from Crimea, is taking place," he stated..................

Putin intensifies pressure on Ukraine as he needs victories on threshold of elections to State Duma - Russia's opposition member Kasyanov

Putin intensifies pressure on Ukraine as he needs victories on threshold of elections to State Duma - Russia's opposition member Kasyanov

Russian President Vladimir Putin builds up pressure on Ukraine because he needs some political victories before the elections to the State Duma to secure success for the pro-presidential United Russia party.

As reported by Censor.NET, this opinion was expressed by the Russian opposition member, PARNAS party Head Mikhail Kasyanov in an interview with Radio Poland.

"He needs some sort of legitimacy outside Russia in order to stay in power. This means that he needs to find an external enemy. And he has actually found and voiced it. The United States, the Baltics, Poland, and Ukraine - these are the directions the propaganda is now targeted at. Putin needs victories. Unfortunately, Ukraine is now the ground for such training," he stressed.

The politician believes that the actual support for Putin among Russians is not as great as it is shown by the media. According to him, many are frightened and afraid to express their dislike for the president.

As reported, the elections to the State Duma will be held Sept. 18, 2016.

Ukraine Grants Asylum To Kremlin Critic

A Russian opposition activist who was the first person charged under a strict new law restricting protests has received political asylum in Ukraine.

Vladimir Ionov, 76, told Ukraine's Hromadske Radio on August 15 that his asylum request -- filed after Russian authorities charged him with attending more than two unauthorized public protests during one six-month period -- had been accepted.

Under legislation enacted in Russia in 2014, such activity is punishable by up to five years in prison.

Rights activists call the new law a menacing tool to crack down on dissent.

Ionov did not show up at his trial in December, and media reports at the time said he fled to Ukraine....
