US Syria deployed more ground troops to capture the "capital" IDIL - Washington Post
US in the next few weeks intention to send 1,000 troops to the north of Syria to participate in the battle for taking the city of Rakka , which is the de facto capital of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IDIL).
This writes The Washington Post , citing sources in the Pentagon.
It is noted that the new US troops in the early stages is not directly involved in combat operations. The newspaper reminds that several weeks ago the city Manbydzh west of Rakka was sent to the US Army Rangers unit to deter Russian, Turkish and Syrian opposition forces. Also, the magazine writes, recently came under fire from American artillery battery, which is located near Rakka.
The Washington Post indicates that increased US presence in Syria is a departure from the policy of the Obama administration, which opposed the increase in ground troops.
US troops, provided they send will support the Kurdish and Arab militias to fight against IDIL. It is expected that US soldiers will act as military advisers to help in neutralizing bombs and coordinating air support.
Currently in Syria are already 500 US Special Forces, Rangers 250 and 200 Marines.
As reported, "Apostrophe", in February, the US stopped providing military aid to Syrian rebels.
