Reuters disproves New York Times report: North Korea probably does not need imports of missile engines

Reuters disproves New York Times report: North Korea probably does not need imports of missile engines

North Korea likely has the ability to produce its own missile engines and intelligence suggests it does not need to rely on imports.

U.S. intelligence officials said on Tuesday, Censor.NET reports citing Reuters.

The assessment disputes a new study by the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies that said that the engines for a nuclear missile North Korea is developing to hit the United States likely were made in factories in Ukraine or Russia and probably obtained via black market networks.

The New York Times cited the study on Monday. The newspaper's report said that classified assessments by U.S. intelligence agencies mirrored the IISS finding.

"We have intelligence to suggest that North Korea is not reliant on imports of engines," one U.S. intelligence official told Reuters. "Instead, we judge they have the ability to produce the engines themselves."

The U.S. officials did not disclose any details of what underpinned the assessment on the high-performance liquid-fueled engines, called RD-250's.

Ukraine denied that it had ever supplied defense technology to North Korea. The Ukrainian factory cited in The New York Times, state-owned Yuzhmash (Pivdenmash), said it had not produced military-grade ballistic missiles since independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.

Earlier, The New York Times cited an expert analysis and classified assessments by American intelligence agencies stating that North Korea's success in testing an intercontinental ballistic missile that appears able to reach the United States was made possible by black-market purchases of powerful rocket engines probably from a Ukrainian factory with historical ties to Russia's missile program.

National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov said in a commentary Ukraine always obliges its international obligations, so the state defense and airspace industries have never delivered weapons and military technologies to North Korea.

Pivdenmash (the alleged producer of the missiles featured in NYT article) also said in a commentary that the article in The New York Times was a provocation.

Russia will not support ideas aimed at "economic strangulation" of the DPRK, - Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow would not support ideas aimed at "economic strangulation" of North Korea.

This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to Gazeta.ru.

"We can not support the ideas that some of our partners continue to carry out, and which are literally aimed at North Korea's economic strangulation All negative, tragic humanitarian consequences for the citizens of the DPRK.We proceed from this in all of the UN Security Council resolutions without exception, in which very serious economic measures have already been introduced, with The UN Security Council's commitment to continue supporting the process of returning to political negotiations was kept, "Lavrov said.

Read on "Censor.NET": Despite the sanctions, Russia supplied North Korea with various types of armaments for 17 years, - Friz.

Recall, the US State Department called on "all countries to take a firm stand against North Korea, supporting and strengthening UN sanctions" so that the regime in Pyongyang felt " The consequences of its unwavering desire to create nuclear weapons and their means of delivery."

The statement stresses that "Russia and China bear a special responsibility for the growing threat to regional and global stability," since the economic cooperation of these two countries with the North Korean regime allows the latter to develop nuclear and missile programs.

United States is striving for the peaceful establishment of a nuclear-free zone on the Korean peninsula and the cessation of hostile action by the DPRK.

July 28, North Korea carried out another launch of the intercontinental ballistic missile.

Moscow Patriarchate participates in the militarization of children in the Crimea

Moscow Patriarchate participates in the militarization of children in the Crimea

A member of the Crimean Human Rights Group (KKE), Irina Sedova, points out that in the annexed Crimea priests of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate are participating in military propaganda among children.

As the Tsenzor.NET citing Krym.realii , this Sedov said at a briefing in Kyiv on 16 August.

"There are examples when the Russian church celebrates the feast of St. Fedor Ushakov, and the priest takes the children to the military unit, the children are photographed with military equipment, and these photos are published on the website of the Crimean diocese." The Russian Orthodox Church distributes grants to Orthodox camps where children are taught to be scouts The religion is mixed with aggressive propaganda of militarization and the children think that being militarists is a sacred thing, "Sedova said.

She added, That there are also facts of cooperation of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Crimea with the Russian Cossacks, political parties, in events for the glorification of the Russian army, which also provides for the participation of children.

"When it comes down to a single evidence base, there is a horrifying picture of how much money is invested in aggressive propaganda among Crimean children," she added.

Crimean journalist Sergei Mokrushin recalled the facts when the priests of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate conducted the "consecration" of Russian military complexes in the Crimea, and then traveled to mainland Ukraine to participate in the procession.

The head of the Crimean human rights group, Olga Skrypnik, told a briefing that on the peninsula the Russian authorities are carrying out systematic work on the militarization of children.

Crimean human rights group on August 16 presented an information and analytical report "Human Rights in the Militarization of the Crimea." According to human rights activists, the document collected facts of human rights violations by Russian military and representatives of illegal paramilitary groups.

Human rights defenders repeatedly paid attention to the militarized format of the upbringing of children in the annexed Crimea.

North Korea can make its own ballistic rocket engines, says US, Does Not Need Ukraine Technology

North Korea can make its own ballistic rocket engines, says US, Does Not Need Ukraine Technology

North Korea has the ability domestically to produce the engines that power its ballistic missiles, US intelligence officials have said, raising new concerns about the technological sophistication of the reclusive Asian nation’s weapons programs.

The assessment also contradicts an independent study released this week that suggested the engines for North Korea’s newly tested intercontinental ballistic missiles were probably built in either Ukrainian or Russian factories and obtained illicitly.

“We have intelligence to suggest that North Korea is not reliant on imports of engines. Instead, we judge they have the ability to produce the engines themselves,” a US intelligence official told the Financial Times.

North Korea has emerged as a top foreign policy priority for the US after testing an increasingly sophisticated array of short, medium and long-range missiles this year. In July, Pyongyang demonstrated its advancing technological prowess by testing two ICBMs theoretically capable of reaching the US mainland.

US president Donald Trump has blown hot and cold in his attempts to threaten or cajole supreme leader Kim Jong Un into abandoning his nuclear ambitions. Tensions rose this month after North Korean officials said Mr Kim was considering a plan to launch missiles towards Guam, a US island base hosting thousands in the Pacific, but he backed down ahead of a self-imposed August 15 deadline.

“Kim Jong Un of North Korea made a very wise and well reasoned decision,” said Mr Trump in a tweet on Wednesday morning. “The alternative would have been both catastrophic and unacceptable!”

The US intelligence assessment contradicts the estimation of several rocket scientists who study North Korea and who have said the country would require imports for the sophisticated technology involved in producing engines capable of launching a nuclear warhead across continents.

North Korea is thought to have built up its arsenal in the late 1980s and 1990s although it registered a series of launch failures in tests with the longer-range Musudan missile until a new approach under leader Kim Jong Un began to bear fruit two years ago.......................

Poroshenko instructed in three days to investigate "Ukrainian engines in the DPRK"

on Wed Aug 16, 2017 11:08 am
Poroshenko instructed in three days to investigate "Ukrainian engines in the DPRK"

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko responded to a scandal about the possible supply of Ukrainian rocket engines to the DPRK.

As reported by Tsenzor.NET, this is stated in the Facebook Poroshenko.

The report says: "Ukraine has faithfully adhered to the international nonproliferation regime, voluntarily having got rid of the third largest nuclear power in the world, we have made a unique contribution to international security and have never allowed ourselves to doubt our commitment to international obligations."

Read also: The spies caught in 2011 The DPRK tried to obtain information about the processes in the fuel tanks of space-based aircraft.

However absurd are the charges of Ukraine, as responsible partners Ers, We must carefully check the information published by the New York Times about the alleged supply of rocket engines or related technologies in North Korea.

Therefore, urgently, under the chairmanship of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and with the involvement of the Interdepartmental Commission on the Policy of the Military-Technical Cooperation and Export Control, as well as the State Enterprise Yuzhmash and Yuzhnoye, conduct a thorough and comprehensive investigation of the situation and report the results within three Days.

I am convinced that this will allow to confirm accurately the far-fetched assumptions about the "Ukrainian trace" in the North Korean ballistic history and, Localize the real source and the intent of this unfounded fake.

Ukraine values its business reputation as a reliable partner in the field of defense and non-proliferation of missile and space technologies!"

Recall that on Monday August 14 the newspaper The New York Times, referring to the conclusions of the expert on missile issues of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), suggested that the intercontinental ballistic missile launched by the DPRK in July And (ICBM) Hwasong-14 is equipped with a rocket engine based on the Soviet-designed RD-250 missile developed in the 1960s for Soviet ICBMs.

The most likely supplier of technologies for the engine of the Korean ICBM in the publication is the Ukrainian state enterprise "Yuzhmash" (Dnepr), which, according to NYT, remained one of the main producers of Russian missiles even after Ukraine gained independence.

In "Yuzhmash", the assumptions made by NYT about the involvement of the enterprise in the DPRK missile program were refuted, considering them as an attempt to discredit Yuzhmash and Ukraine.

One of the FBI witnesses in the crackdown on Democratic Party servers working for FSB via Ukraine

There is a cyber expert living in Ukraine who is witnessing a breakdown of the Democratic Party's servers during the US presidential election.

This is stated in the The New York Times.

The name of the expert is not disclosed. It is only indicated that he is known by the nickname "Profexer" and previously worked anonymously in Dark Web.

"This is the first time that an eyewitness appeared from the whole body of technical sector from which the crackdown on the Democratic Party servers was being investigated," the report said.

It is noted that now "Profexer" will testify to the FBI.

Ukrainian police refused to disclose the name of a man or other details, except that he lives in Ukraine and is not currently arrested.

Evidence that Profexer has been working on Russian intelligence services, at least consciously, is not present at the moment.

However, its viral code is unambiguous - yes, says the edition.

Recall that last July, US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton  accused  Russian intelligence of breaking the computer system of the Democratic National Committee.

Hackers hacked the US Department of State postal servers. All 50547 pages of correspondence have been  published by the  WikiLeaks portal .

Subsequently, the FBI confirmed that it  would investigate the  theft of the electronic correspondence of Democrats.

North Korean rocket scandal: US pointed to possible problems with the delivery of lethal weapons to Ukraine

North Korean rocket scandal: US pointed to possible problems with the delivery of lethal weapons to Ukraine

The rocket scandal about alleged transfer of rocket technology by the DPRK to Ukraine can significantly strengthen the position of the opponents of the delivery of American lethal weapons to Kiev, as well as give US President Donald Trump the opportunity to relatively "painlessly" "change" Ukraine during the negotiations with Russia.

Such an opinion was expressed by American publicist, chairman of the Litvinenko Foundation Alexander Goldfarb, reports Gordon.

"Of course, information on the supply of Ukrainian missile engines to the DPRK may affect the image of Ukraine. There is nothing good about it, and the Ukrainian authorities need to keep track of their factories, because it does not add to the country's popularity," he said.

According to him, part of the American political elite can use the history of engines for the DPRK when it comes to making a decision on lethal weapons for Ukraine.

Goldfarb also stressed that Trump could try to establish relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the expense of concessions concerning Ukraine.

"One of the opponents of lethal weapon delivery to Ukraine is Trump, whose policy is that Putin needs to be comforted and not annoyed," Trump said, giving Moscow, Ukraine, will be able to negotiate with Syria, Iran and North Korea, "said the journalist. .

He added that Ukraine, if there were no supplies to the DPRK, must and necessarily refute information on cooperation with the DPRK.

"Sealing" of the Crimea: why in Germany want to forget about the annexation

on Wed Aug 16, 2017 6:47 pm
"Sealing" of the Crimea: why in Germany want to forget about the annexation

In August, German politicians of varying degrees of influence began to actively voice alternative ideas for resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. They can not be called fundamentally new - similar "compromise" variants from time to time offered both Western and Ukrainian politicians, diplomats and businessmen. In general, their essence is reduced to the need to temporarily forget about the Crimea for the sake of de-escalating the situation in the Donbas.

The official position of both Ukraine and Germany with France as members of the "Norman" format is unchanged. So far, such plans were articulated by private individuals and politicians who did not set the course of their country, they did not raise particular fears. However, a recent statement by the German foreign minister, Sigmar Gabriel, raised doubts. Read more in the article "Browser".

"Sealing" of the Crimea

In early August, Freedom Free Democratic Party leader Christian Lindner said that the topic of annexation of the Crimea should be temporarily "sealed" to improve the situation in other directions: in the Donbass and in the part of the German-Russian relations.

The politician did not "bless" the annexation of Crimea, but offered to work out proposals that would allow Putin to change the course "without loss of face."

Lindner's position contradicts the program of his own party. Free Democrats expressed unequivocal support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Politics criticized the Christian Democrats and the "green". And yet, Lindner's words received unexpectedly great support in the German establishment and the alleged approval of business circles. For example, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responsible for the Eastern vector of interaction, Gernot Erler, was sympathetic to this idea. Accepted the "sealing" of the Crimea and the "left", in which, in fact, there is absolutely nothing strange.

"Creeping selfishness or primitive thinking, what happens to German politicians? This is a rhetorical question: some politicians in Germany want to get calm at our expense, I think it will not work out. We are not the ones who can sell air," he said in a conversation with " Browser "ex-minister of foreign affairs of Ukraine Volodymyr Ohryzko.

Even if free democrats adjust their program in line with Lindner's position, this party will not determine the official course of Berlin, although it may be able to influence - the SDP has every chance to enter the future coalition. In any case, the government quickly reacted to Lindner's words, stressing that there can be no talk about mitigating Germany's position on the Crimea.

"The attitude of the federal government to this issue has not changed, and it, as the EU as a whole, is absolutely clear and unambiguous." The Russian annexation of the Ukrainian Crimea is seen as a violation of international law, which has called into question security in Europe, "said Ulrich Demmer, representative of the German Cabinet. .

Two good news

It would seem that after Demmer's reaction, the question must be exhausted: Lindner expressed his personal opinion, he was supported by traditional supporters of "friendship" between Russia and Germany, but no more. However, the internal debate did not subsist, having received a new breath in connection with the statement of Foreign Minister Zygmar Gabriel. He, of course, criticized Lindner for his desire to get into the headlines of the media (although a month before the election is more than natural), but, in essence, also urged to temporarily close his eyes to the annexation.

"We do not need a debate on the Crimea. We need to think about how to achieve an armistice in the East of Ukraine," said Gabriel.

The words of the head of the Foreign Ministry again revealed the lack of a common position on the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, even in the German government, not to mention the parliament. The Social Democrats, represented by Gabriel, are loyal supporters of the so-called realpolitic. Their rhetoric on Russia has always been softer than Merkel's Christian Democratic Union.

Yes, and Gabriel himself has shown himself as a supporter of the method of carrot in relation to Moscow. "We all know from the experience that prolonged isolation does not give anything. As a result, only the dialogue will help (with Russia - Ed.)" - he said in May 2016, before he became Minister. A little earlier, in 2015, Gabriel was at the epicenter of the scandal, asking for an autograph for Vladimir Putin for his wife. These are just a few examples from a long list of episodes that demonstrate, to put it mildly, the specific attitude of the head of the German Foreign Ministry to Russia.

Yet, as for the foreign minister, Gabriel's statement is unheard of, let it be thrown to them among themselves - during the interview. His predecessor, and now the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, is also a Social Democrat and a supporter of a dialogue with Russia. But this kind of proposal he has never put forward. On the contrary - a few months ago, the politician stressed that forget about the Crimea is unacceptable.

In the light of this, there are two good news for Ukraine. First, the candidate for the Chancellor of the Social Democrats is Martin Schulz, not Sigmar Gabriel, although not long ago he was considered a leading contender. Second, judging by the polls, the Social Democrats did not see the chancellor's chair. Angela Merkel seriously strengthened her position. Unless there is a serious political earthquake, it seems to be the fourth time to take a leading position.

"Russia will never return the Crimea": made a loud statement in Germany

Russia will never return the Crimean peninsula to Ukraine, despite sanctions imposed.

Alexander Gauland, head of the electoral list of the right-wing party "Alternative for Germany" (ADG), which advocates rapprochement with Russia, said in an interview with Deutsche Welle.

"Russia will never return the Crimea. I do not think sanctions can affect something," said Gauland.

We note that the party, which includes Gauland, advocates abolishing anti-Russian sanctions for the annexation of Crimea.

At the same time, Gauland himself believes that "to some extent" is responsible for political power for foreign policy.

"Although there is no such anarchist party, but we are the anarchist party," he said.

It should be noted that the statement of German politicians was criticized in Ukraine.

So, the coordinator of the "Information Resistance" group, People's Deputy from the People's Front, Dmytro Timchuk, on his Facebook page, said that German politicians need to learn their own story.

"Even high-school history suggests that the same thought" colleagues "Gera Haulanda in Germany late 30's - early 40's. On Sudetenland. Slightly miscalculated. Medalky labeled Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Führer had to hide to not to disgrace myself. The same fate awaits Russian medalku "For the return of the Crimea." "Alternative" gentlemen from Germany have studied their own history or that "- he wrote.

TRANSLATION:
Member of the alternative for Germany. Gauland stated that Russia would never return Crimea to Ukraine: " Russia will never return Crimea. I don't think sanctions can affect anything ".

Even the school history of history tells us the same thing as "colleagues" of herr gaulanda in Germany the late 30 s - the early 40 s. A little miscalculated. Medal with the inscription "ein Volk, Ein Reich, ein führer" had to be stash to avoid again. The same fate awaits the Russian blogosphere "for the return of crimea".

Russia hinted that Yeltsin was cooler than Putin

The influence of Russia on all post-Soviet countries has significantly decreased during the years of Vladimir Putin's rule; For Boris Yeltsin in the late 1990s, Russia still dominated the territory of the former Soviet Union.

Such an opinion in an interview with "Observer" was expressed by Russian journalist Leonid Radzikhovsky.

"The impact of all the CIS countries over the years of Putin sharply decreased. I'm not even talking about Ukraine, which severed relations with the absolutely senseless and idiotic reason. But Yeltsin in the late 1990s, weak, collapsed, rotten, by inertia, remained ever since the Soviet Union still dominated the CIS. now Russia is obviously much less influence,"- he stated.

In support of his words, the journalist presented a number of facts. First, the absence of the CIS. "There is no CIS - they even do not hold the summits". Second, the fact that "the share of Russia in foreign trade in almost all CIS countries is still large, but it has sharply decreased in comparison with the share that was in the 1990s." Thirdly, "the Russian language has a much lower percentage of CIS citizens than in the 1990s."

And finally, fourthly, "the elites of the CIS are much less oriented toward Russia," Radzihovsky summarized.

In this context, he noted that today "in the space of Central Asia and in Kazakhstan, obviously, China dominates, Georgia has demonstratively moved to America." About Ukraine everything is known, the Baltic States joined NATO." "Even the countries from which millions go to work for millions of people - Uzbekistan, Tajikistan - conduct a completely independent policy of Russia," - admitted the journalist.

In his opinion, only the countries which he feeds are Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan who are loyal to the Kremlin, and the post-Soviet countries that speak of Russia "24 hours a day" are those who are afraid of an attack on her part. To such journalists Ukraine, Georgia and the countries of the Baltic States were counted.

As the "Obozrevatel" wrote, it was previously named the country most concerned about the Russian invasion.
