Canada for the first time in almost half a century sent a Japanese submarine to the shores of Japan.
This was announced on October 19 by CBC News.
The Chicoutimi submarine left the base of Eskimolt in September to participate in the patrol of the Asia-Pacific region.
This week the boat arrived in Yokosuki, Japan.
Canada's Navy does not report what tasks they will carry out and where it will carry the service, but stressed that its presence "emphasizes the strategic importance of the region for Canada."
Chicoutimi will remain in Asia until March 2018. Submarine has weapons with 24 torpedoes, 6-inch 21-inch torpedo vehicles. There are no nuclear weapons on board.
Recall that an earthquake with magnitude 6.1 occurred near the southern coast of Japan.
