Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin is convinced that it is the Russian Federation that is making attempts to destabilize the situation in the Zakarpattia region.

He said at a joint briefing with his Finnish counterpart Timo Soini, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"It is Russia that is currently trying to destabilize the situation in the Zakarpattia with its Hungarian community," Klimkin said.

According to him, it is known that the mastermind of provocations against Uzhhorod-based Hungarian Cultural Association office in the Zakarpattia region "fled to Transnistria," which, he said, is fully controlled by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).

"Therefore, all those who demand to bring up an issue of some alleged anti-Hungarian actions or even anti-Hungarian campaign should talk to Moscow, the Kremlin and the central office of the FSB," the minister said.

The last direct presidential election will take place in Georgia in autumn 2018. The election will be held in eight months while the campaign starts in May.

The West is already responding to President Vladimir Putin’s announcement of new nuclear weapons developed as part of a resurgent Russian assertiveness.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Monday visiting a NATO training facility in Iraq, Censor.NET reports citing Reuters.
