Merkel said that the EU may lose without Greece

Such an opinion was expressed by German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier in an interview with the Sunday edition of the Tagesspiegel

"Even if we can cope with this development with financial and monetary point of view, signal« Grexit »would have devastating consequences for countries outside the EU. Europe would have lost in some parts of the world reputation and trust, "- said Steinmeier.

According to him, first of all such countries are China, India and the United States who watch closely, whether the Europeans cope with the crisis.

At the same time, the head of the German Foreign Ministry called the actions of the Greek government, "a mixture of lack of experience, ideology and radical rhetoric."

He stressed that the Greek authorities have brought their country to a stalemate that has hurt people.

If today's referendum, the Greeks say "no", "will come to a compromise is not easy, quite the opposite," - the diplomat warned. He noted that Athens should look for a way out of the difficult situation together with our partners, not "strain" of Europe and members of the euro zone.
