Protests in Russia combined with European and American sanctions can change the behavior of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Crimea and the Donbass, says Ambassador of the Netherlands to Ukraine Eduard Hux.
Such an opinion was expressed by the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Ukraine, Eduard Hux, in an interview to the publication "Focus", reports Censor.NET.
"In the Netherlands, many are watching what is going on and condemning Russian aggression - both the annexation of the Crimea and the war on the Donbass. Therefore, sanctions against the Russian Federation are still in place, so I can assure you that Ukraine has not been forgotten, as in any democratic one. country, we have different opinions, there is a debate, but I am sure that as long as there is no progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements, until Russia starts to behave as it is, the sanctions will not be lifted, "the diplomat said.
"We see that while sanctions have not changed the political behavior of Moscow, at the same time, we know when the effect of these sanctions can grow: when there will be more protest activity within the Russian society itself, it is capable, we hope, to change the behavior of Vladimir Putin," added the ambassador.
