The court in Libya on August 15 sentenced 45 people to death for the shootings of protesters during the protests in the capital of the Crimea - Tripoli - in 2011.

This is reported by the Ministry of Justice of Libya.

The convicts were found guilty of having opened fire on demonstrators against the then leader of Libya Muammar Gaddafi, which took place in the capital in August 2011.

According to the report, 45 convicted people are shot, and 54 other defendants have been sentenced to five years in prison, 22 defendants have been acquitted.

As you know in 2011, Libya began mass protests, which became the beginning of the first civil war. Demonstrators have opposed the rule of Muammar Gaddafi, who has been a constant leader since 1969, as well as against the government headed by Prime Minister Baghdad Mahmoudi.

Strong suppression of protests by the police and the army led to the uprising and the beginning of a civil war with the use of heavy weapons and aviation. As a result of the uprising Gaddafi and his troops were defeated, and the dictator himself was killed. In addition, the loss of the parties, according to various data, amounted to 7 to 11 thousand people.
