The German authorities disagree on discussing aid for the restoration of Syria without resolving the political crisis in the country. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin urged Europe to help rebuild Syria.
This is reported by DW.
According to the spokesman of the German government, Stefan Zaybert, Berlin considers it premature to discuss the issue of assistance to the restored Syria without reaching a political truce in the country.
"For the federal government, it is unnecessary to take up the issue of further necessary reconstruction (Syria - Ed.)," He said.
At the same time, Zaybert stressed that the Syrian province of Idlib faces a "humanitarian catastrophe."
During a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Putin called on European countries to help rebuild Syria, which, according to the president of the Russian Federation, will facilitate the return of refugees to the country.
Putin also said that the Nord Stream 2 pipeline is a purely economic project.
