Ukraine, Germany, France and the United States are preparing to submit to the UN Security Council a draft resolution on the introduction of UN peacekeepers in the Donbas.

This was announced by Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, reports Ukrinform.

He noted that Ukraine has an "agreement with friends" regarding the issue of a peacekeeping mission to vote.

"We have an agreement with our friends - the USA, Germany and France. Yesterday I spoke again with Hayko Maas (German Foreign Minister, ed.), Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, we will make the relevant resolution, "Klimkin said.

On September 26, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko called on the United Nations to launch a peacekeeping mission to the Donbas within the framework of one of the measures of the 73rd session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

Special Representative of the US State Department for Ukraine Kurt Volker said that Sweden, Finland, Austria, Belarus, Serbia and Turkey have already stated their readiness to participate in the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbas.

Former US Ambassador to Ukraine Stephen Pifer told the Gromadsky that, in his opinion, Russia would wait for the end of the election in Ukraine before settling the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbas.

Former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen previously told the Civic that UN peacekeepers are the only instrument to guarantee peace in the Donbas.

Earlier, US Secretary of State for National Security, John Bolton, said Russia's participation in the discussion of peacekeepers in the Donbas is a possible recognition that Russia is part of the "problem".

In November of this year, we will celebrate the 85th anniversary of one of the most terrible crimes of the 20th century - the Holodomor or the mass deaths of hunger, artificially organized in Ukraine by the Stalinist regime, and took away the lives of many millions of Ukrainians, "said President Poroshenko during a general debate at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.

"In this regard, I would like to renew my call to the Assembly to honor one of the greatest tragedies in the history of mankind by adopting the relevant declaration," the President said.

"Today, in a situation where nearly 850 million people are under-eating, my country can not stand aloof and ready to offer assistance to address food security issues in the world," he said.

He recalled that in 2019-2021, in connection with membership in the UN Economic and Social Council, Ukraine will be given a major responsibility.
