The Swiss prosecutor's office has officially confirmed that one of the detainees, previously objected to the extradition and intends to challenge it, changed his position. Name the official agency does not.
The agency Bloomberg, citing its own sources claim that it was a former vice-president of FIFA Jeffrey Webb, who led the Football Confederation of North and Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF). Officially, this information is not confirmed.
The largest in the history of the FIFA scandal erupted in May when in Zurich on suspicion of corruption were detained senior officials of the organization. US prosecutors filed against 14 functionaries, including the seven arrested in Zurich on charges of extortion, bribery and money laundering.
The US Justice Department said that for the past 24 years the defendants received bribes and kickbacks totaling more than $ 150 million. Against the background of the scandal FIFA president Sepp Blatter was forced to announce an early resignation and early elections to be held not earlier than December.
