The death of two residents of Dniprodzerzhynsk Volodymyr Yarovyi and Volodymyr Shevchenko, who were long in captivity, was confirmed today.

Censor.NET reports citing Sobytie news outlet.

The soldiers from Dniprodzerzhynsk were captured during the encirclement of Ilovaisk in last year August.

Both Volodymyr Yarovyi and Volodymyr Shevchenko stayed in touch and informed about their captivity. They later discontinued being in touch.

The soldiers' bodies have recently been found and taken to Dnipropetrovsk by the Ukrainian volunteers. The servicemen were decapitated and dressed in winter clothes. DNA analysis helped to identify the bodies.

Junior Sergeant Volodymyr Yarovyi is on the left picture and Junior Sergeant Volodymyr Shevchenko is on right one.

May the memory of the fallen heroes live forever! Dniprodzerzhynsk residents will remember their names eternally. In Russian
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said he would be ready for dialogue with representatives of the temporarily occupied areas of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions if they were elected according to the Ukrainian legislation.

Poroshenko said in an interview with the German magazine Stern, Censor.NET reports citing Deutsche Welle.

Poroshenko is ready to be engaged in the dialogue with the elected representatives if the elections in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the territories uncontrolled by Kyiv will be held in accordance with the Ukrainian legislation in October.

The Ukrainian President is convinced that if the separatists hold separate local elections as they have planned, it will only worsen the situation, "I dislike the idea to discuss the future of my country not with compatriots but with representatives of the foreign country," Poroshenko said. According to him, Russian puppets are currently running the occupied territories.

At the same time the President of Ukraine stressed that Russia must withdraw its weapons in order to achieve lasting peace. And it is necessary to close the border between Ukraine and Russia in order to prevent further arms supplies from the Russian Federation. "As soon as weapons, ammunition, and soldiers stop being brought to the country, there will immediately be peace," Poroshenko said. In Russian
The Russian-terrorist troops kept shelling the ATO forces’ positions using weapons prohibited by the Minsk Agreements today, Aug. 5. The criminals concentrated their attacks at the Donetsk direction opening fire at night-time primarily.

Censor.NET informs citing the situation report by the ATO press-center.
According to the report, the militants shelled Avdiivka, Vodiane, and Opytne from 120-mm mortars from midnight to 6 a.m. Besides, the invaders committed three strikes from 122-mm artillery on residential neighborhoods of Avdiivka at night.
"At the same time, according to our intelligence, the local militants' dissatisfaction with the cash allowance is constantly growing. The discipline is deteriorating as a result as well as social pressure, which is not controlled by the Russian military advisers any more, is growing. Therefore, the incidents involving bandits and the local residents constantly take place in the temporarily occupied territory," the statement reads.

One of the examples was the incident that took place in the village of Yuvileine in the Luhansk region July 31 when drunken armed bandits driving an armored personnel carrier have smashed two cars of the local residents and started shooting after that. A commission of seven people has recently arrived in Luhansk from the Russian Federation to investigate the incident. The Russian puppeteers have been openly accommodated in the Druzhba hotel and are trying to calm down the monsters they have themselves created. However, realizing hopelessness of these efforts, the Russians are already considering options of the complete replacement of the militants by the Russia's career military men with their further formalizing. Robert Conquest, historian - obituary [in English]
But it was The Great Terror that really established his reputation as an historian. By the time it was published the Cold War was into its third decade and there were seemingly few illusions about Soviet Russia. All the same, Conquest opened many eyes to the full scale of that horror and everything he wrote was to be vindicated as the Soviet archives were finally opened. ...
. Conquest described how one day in 1937 Stalin and Molotov personally approved 3,167 death sentences, and then went to watch a film.
That book was followed by other major works on Soviet Russia. These included The Nation Killers (1970), about Stalin’s quasi-genocidal war on smaller nationalities, re-examined in Stalin: Breaker of Nations (1991). Then came Lenin (1972), Kolyma (1978), which dealt with the Gulag camps, Inside Stalin’s Secret Police (1985) and The Harvest of Sorrow: Soviet Collectivisation and the Terror-Famine (1986).

Ukraine army gets help from classic car restorers [in English]
Staff at the Phaeton see it as their patriotic duty to help the military in this time of war. "I'm too old to join the army," says Vyacheslav Zaytsev, 57. "I'm more use here, helping to fix military hardware," he says.
Only part of the work is funded by the military, which also helps the Phaeton with components. That help falls far short of covering all the repair costs, and a significant contribution is made by the museum itself and other volunteers.

Lavrov believes that the investigation into the Boeing crash was not really international (UNIAN)
"Unfortunately, the investigation was not independent, comprehensive and truly international. Rather than act under the control of the International Civil Aviation Organization, provided that the Chicago Convention, Ukraine, Belgium, Australia and the Netherlands have concluded bilateral agreements with each other, meaning that as the end not known, "- said Lavrov.
[What does that really mean?
That Russia couldn't influence the outcome? The investigators wouldn't agree that Obama shot it down in a hang-glider, or whatever Shaun Walker's latest story is?
Yet another attempt to make an excuse. Putin did it. 100% certain he sent the Buk to Donetsk, and took it out just as quick. And lavrov and Walker simply blow smoke into peoples' eyes. ]

The State Border Service has shown a new uniform for Ukrainian border guards: photofact (Columnist)

This is actually a complete scam. Money making racket.
The Border Guard got a new uniform about 2 years ago. They have to buy their uniform themselves... so imagine... for the people that make it...
it's just a new load of money. Many Border Guards get about 200 dollars a month salary.
Imagine you have to pay 100 dollars for a new uniform... 7 or 8000 border guards? I don't know. If so... a million dollars for somebody. Scam.
And the guards have no choice. They have to buy each and every new uniform. Corruption, Ukrainian style.

In Odessa, a bomb exploded in a nightclub, no casualties (Interfax-Ukraine)
[this story posted yesterday by Admin, but the good news here is that there are no casualties.]
Russia is to withdraw from Donbas before the local elections there, political expert Volodymyr Tsybulko said, Glavnoe reported Aug. 4.

“Following Poroshenko’s flat statements that elections in the rebel-held territories won’t have any positive results, the United States stepped in saying the elections should be held.

Poroshenko has a point as the fair elections in the rebel-held Donbas cannot be held.

While armed terrorists swarm Donbas, any nationalist parties like Svoboda, Samopomich or Radical party cannot campaign there.

By stressing the need to hold the elections the United States is sending the message to Putin, not Poroshenko.

In fact, the US is talking to Putin – if the local elections are not held the fourth wave of sanctions will hit Russia.

Americans realize that no Ukrainian parties can campaign in the occupied Donbas until the Kremlin withdraws from there. Therefore, Putin is sent a message – pull out from Donbas before the start of the election campaign or face the consequences of further sanctions. It’s a deadline for Moscow,” the expert says.

Shakhtar vs Fenerbahce: ticket sales
Tickets are priced from UAH 50. Tickets of VIP category are priced from UAH 600.
The Arena Lviv ticket office is open from 10:00 til 20:00 without breaks and days off.

[Rather cheaper than a ticket at Chelsea.]

The stadium is at 49°46′31″N 24°1′40″E
I realise that I have been there without knowing it.
I went to a shopping mall right on the outskirts of Lviv, called King Cross. Yes - King. Not King's, as in the London mainline train station.
The stadium is just across the road. Right on the outskirts - fields and trees beyond.
It is straight south from the centre. There is a bus from the centre - and it gets pretty packed pretty soon.
The bus runs to the mall. Terminates there. Long ride. Half an hour or so.

Cossacks Face Grim Reprisals From Onetime Allies in Eastern Ukraine [in English. NYTimes]
First, a bomb exploded on the roadside. Then, machine-gunners opened fire on the immobilized convoy. When the ambush was over, five bodyguards, a press secretary and Aleksei B. Mozgovoi, the rebel leader, lay dead.
Rebels have been fighting in Ukraine for more than a year now, but the bloody assault this May was different: a massacre carried out by separatist rebels against another rebel group and former ally, the famed Cossacks, in a clash over the groups’ competing territorial claims...
At least dozens of the fighters sent to Ukraine by the Don Cossacks, the main Cossack group, have died in mysterious ambushes in recent months, according to local news reports.

Putin figured out how to "legalize" the invasion of Russian troops in the Donbas (Commander)
Russia intends to start issuing passports to residents of the Donbass, occupied ...
"The presence in Donbass" citizens with Russian passports "allows the RF to legitimize its military presence and thus justify even before the Russians their aggressive actions", - he said.
"In this case, Russia can go to the Transnistrian scenario and leave the Donbass considerable military contingent, which, for example, will serve as a" peacekeeping mission ". Especially because the common border facilitates the movement of military equipment and manpower, as well as the supply of military "- the expert added.
