France recognizes Guadino as president of Venezuela if Maduro does not announce elections

France recognizes Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guadio as interim president of the country if Nicolas Maduro does not announce early elections on February 3

This was stated by the French Minister for European Affairs Natalie Luazo, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

"If at midnight Maduro will not assume the obligation to hold the presidential election, then France will consider Juan Guadino as the legitimate force able to organize them, and we will consider him an interim president for legitimate elections in Venezuela," Luiza said.

She also called the "farce" Maduro's proposal to arrange early parliamentary elections in Venezuela.

Previously, Maduro confirmed that he does not object to early parliamentary elections, provided that the people want it.

"I agree that the people should decide on the legislative power of Venezuela," the president said, promising that the authorities would begin consultations to understand whether the Venezuelan wants early parliamentary elections.
