Causing air strikes in Syria, Russian aircraft damaged ancient village in the province of Idlib Serdzhilla, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has informed "Radio Liberty", referring to representatives of the leading associations of the Syrian opposition "Syrian National Coalition." The opposition called on UNESCO to condemn the air strikes Russia and protect the archaeological heritage of Syria, the report said.

About 40 villages, which are grouped into eight archaeological parks in southwestern Syria, give an idea of ​​rural life in late antiquity and during the Byzantine period. These left over a thousand years ago settlements, which are called "dead town" well-preserved houses, pagan temples, Christian churches, intake tanks and baths. In 2011, the "dead city" was included in UNESCO World Heritage Site.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that he is concerned about reports that Russian strikes in Syria were not directed against "Islamic state" (LIH).
