Corbyn defies critics to keep faith with Stop the War

Labour leader likely to ignore senior MPs’ advice to cut ties with group after years of involvement

On Friday night Jeremy Corbyn will sit down at a central London restaurant for a three-course Turkish meal, to music from “Dmitri van Zwanenberg, busker with a yellow violin”, alongside his old friends from Stop the War Campaign, the group he chaired for four years until September.

In doing so he is stubbornly ignoring the advice of some of his own MPs and colleagues. They include Tristram Hunt, former shadow education secretary, who urged his leader not to attend the meeting after the STWC’s “irresponsible” and “ugly” behaviour before the vote on Syria air strikes.................
