In Britain, threatened with sanctions on Facebook and Twitter due to interference with the investigation into Russian interference in Brexit

Facebook and Twitter will face a threat of sanctions if they continue to block the British Parliament's investigation into Russia's intervention in a referendum on the UK's exit from the European Union.
This was stated by Damien Collins, chairman of the parliamentary committee on culture, media and sports, which deals with this investigation, writes The Guardian .
The chairman of the parliamentary committee gave companies time to fix by January 18 their refusal to convey the information that he had requested about Russia's campaigns of disinformation in social networks.
"There should be a way to thoroughly examine the procedures that companies such as Facebook are introducing to help them identify known sources of misinformation, especially when it is politically motivated and comes from another state," said the expert, noting that it is the sites themselves that are most easily traceable to such activity and take measures against it.
"But then there must be some mechanism of expression: if you do not, if you ignore the requests to act, if you fail to effectively protect the site and deal with the extremely problematic content, then there should be some type of sanctions against you," - added the parliamentarian.
In particular, says the expert, sanctions can hit the income of these social networks.
Note that Facebook said that Russian users spent only $ 0.97 on social media advertising for Brexit. In turn, representatives of Twitter said that a similar campaign in the social network pro-Kremlin television channel RT spent $ 1,000.
