Medvedev warned Ukraine to stop the transit of gas from Russia

The Russian prime minister said that Moscow will not conclude with the Ukrainian side a new agreement on gas transit to unfavorable conditions

Russia will not renew the contract with Ukraine for gas transit to Europe after 2019 to unfavorable conditions. The Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with the Slovenian newspaper DELO.

"Experience shows that making forecasts about the prospects for Ukrainian transit - it is very ungrateful. But it is clear that extend the transit agreement with Ukraine on unfavorable conditions, we will not" - said the Russian prime minister.

As noted, currently transit through Ukraine rate of 2.7 dollars per thousand cubic meters per 100 kilometers. The Ukrainian side has said it wants to raise this rate to 5%.

According to Medvedev, the contract for the transit of Russian gas to end "at 10 am January 1, 2020".

"If its duration is not extended, we will not have the legal and regulatory framework for the future supply of gas through Ukraine", - he said.

On the eve of the Russian Energy Ministry said that Russia in the case of the signing of the protocol on gas will be insisted that it was that it had been prescribed the obligations of all participants in the negotiations - Ukraine, Russia and the European Commission.

Recall July 24, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has provoked a scandal, saying that Ukraine may repeat the fate of alleged Yugoslavia and disappear as a state.
