News -
Putin's terrorists continue to attack the Ukrainian people. See first post below. No info yet on how many attacks.
In Paris other terrorists launch attacks. Reading of at least 150 dead.
But no mention of the attackers. Nothing. The BBC, Telegraph do NOT mention the words Muslim, or Mohammad.
Not even "it is suspected"...
Update - 5 Ukrainian soldiers killed by Putin's terrorists. 4 injured.
This probably won't even get a mention in the western press.
Elections - again tomorrow. I think mayor run-offs. Ukraine needs a different system to save money. Maybe preferential voting.

Weather -
A little cooler today. 4 at the moment. Will get up to 10 perhaps. But cooler for the next few days.
Midday - raining again. A lot of rain over the past week.

Footie -
Ukraine play today in Lviv. 1st leg.
Yesterday Ireland drew in Bosnia-herz. 1-1.

Update - Ukraine 2 Slovenia 0. Result.
My opinion of game, 14 posts down.

European championships. Playoffs. First leg. Lviv tonight.
Personal opinion.
An exciting game. Ukraine played well. Passed well. Had lots of the attacking play.
But Slovenia also had their chances.
Ukraine scored after about 20 minutes. Clever dummy by Yarmalenko. moved to the right, and slotted home into the corner across the goalie.
1.0. .
2nd half, after about 50 minutes, the second. A tap in at the far post. Very close to offside...

So now - 2nd leg on Tuesday. Slovenia. Will be later. Probably 7.45 UK time.
Ukraine 2-0 advantage. It should be enough. But would be good if Ukraine score one goal.
If they get an away goal, then Slovenia need to score 4 to win. Yes. 4.
If Slovenia get 2, then it goes to extra time and then penalties.

my opinion - advantage Ukraine, but it is not all over yet. 90 more minutes to play.
Nice to see Poroshenko there with the Slovenian president also. He enjoyed waving his large Ukrainian flag )) Good atmosphere, but some needle between the opposing players.

The war in Syria slowed down the Russian offensive in Ukraine, Ihor Semyvolos told Gazeta Nov. 14.

“Russia does not have enough resources to fight on two fronts, in Ukraine and Syria,” the expert says.

Moscow continues to send its troops to Donbas and neighboring territories across the border as Putin is interested in fanning the war in Donbas.

“Now everything depends on Ukraine’s domestic situation. If it deteriorates, with pseudo-patriots go on rocking the boat, Russia will have a chance. If not, the chance will be smaller,” he says.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held an emergency meeting with the security officials after the terrorist attacks in Paris.
He said he was shocked by the events in France, Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the president.

He said that last night he heard a report from SBU Chief Vasyl Hrytsak concerning the special operation which took place in the anti-terrorist operation area. "Ukrainian security services have neutralized two groups, which are suspected of preparing terrorist attacks and have ties with certain international terrorist groups," the report reads.

The president instructed the heads of relevant departments to ensure increasing coordination with international partners and exchange information about possible terrorist threats.

"It's not only France but also the UK, the U.S., all of our partners and international organizations on combating terrorism," he said. In Russian
Vladimir Putin has chosen a military strategy…planning to use threats of various kinds against the West which could easily spiral out of control

By Paul Goble* for “Window on Eurasia”:”

November 13 – Vladimir Putin has chosen a military strategy which makes the new cold war he has started not only different but also far more dangerous than its namesake because he is seeking not parity with the West which acted as a restraining factor but rather planning to use threats of various kinds against the West which could easily spiral out of control.

Those conclusions that suggest many of the mechanisms which helped to prevent conflict between Moscow and the West in the past are being dispensed with by Moscow are offered in a lead article today in Kyiv’s “Delovaya stolitsa” (

The editors point out that “debates about strategic forces are almost the only sphere where the Kremlin always gives a symmetrical response.” Because US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter spoke about the need for a new strategy to contain an aggressive Russia, Moscow responded by the television report about a new weapon of its own.

In one sense, Moscow has no choice but to do that, the paper continues, “its much-ballyhooed nuclear club remains the single ‘legitimator’ of its ambitions and argument in the geopolitical game.”

“The goal of ‘catching up and surpassing’” the West is no longer something Moscow can aspire to given its deteriorating economy and technological collapse, but, the paper warns, “Moscow does not need parity – it is sufficient to create a guaranteed unacceptable risk ‘for the other side.’”

Hence its “accidental release” of information about the Status-6, a weapon with roots in Soviet times but that could be used in new and far more dangerous ways by the Putin regime.  “The main distinction of Status-6 from its prototype is its assignment,” the paper says, to cover a coastal area with radioactive debris and make it uninhabitable.

That is, “Delovaya stolitsa” says, “one is in fact talking about a primitive ‘dirty’ bomb,” rather than a counterforce device. And “in this way,” it continues, “Russia has symbolically put itself on the same level as the terrorist international from Al-Qaeda to ISIS,” which for a long time has sought to acquire “such a plaything.”

Moreover, this new Russian dirty bomb inevitably recalls the Nazi’s faith in “wonder weapons” at the end of World War II, given that like those imaginary devices, the new Russian one is clearly intended to frighten and intimidate rather than simply restrain, all the more so because the US does not now have a system to counter the Status-6 device.

But the Americans are working on one, “Delovaya stolitsa” points out. In February DARPA announced that it was testing the ACTUV, a 140-ton drone subhunter that would negate the military value of the Russian “Wunderwaffe.” Needless to say, Kremlin-controlled media haven’t been talking about that.

They run banks, pension funds, and electric companies. They're oil and gas executives. They're worth billions. And most of them are under 40.

Meet the children of Vladimir Putin's cronies.

A new nobility is being born in Russia as Generation P -- the offspring of those in Putin's inner sanctum -- come of age, come into their own, and seek to inherit their parent's power.

But if the past century of Russian history is any guide, this effort to establish a hereditary aristocracy is most likely doomed.

An investigative report by Reuters this week looked closely at the emerging second generation of the Putin aristocracy. Much of it focused on Katerina Tikhonova, widely believed to be the Kremlin leader's daughter, and her husband, Kirill Shamalov.

Tikhonova runs publicly funded projects at Moscow State University and Shamalov, the son of longtime Putin crony Nikolai Shamalov, is a top shareholder at Bank Rossia.

According to Reuters, the couple is worth about $2 billion, thanks mainly to a stake in a major gas and petrochemical company that Kirill acquired from Gennady Timchenko, another Putin associate. Kirill's brother Yury, meanwhile, is deputy chairman of Gazprombank and president of Gazfond, Russia's largest pension fund.

But Tikhonova and Shamalov are just the tip of the aristocratic iceberg.

Also among the leading heirs of the new nobility are Sergei Ivanov, son of the Kremlin chief of staff of the same name, who is director of Gazprombank; and Dmitry Patrushev, son of National Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, who heads the Russian Agricultural Bank.

Igor and Roman Rotenberg, the sons of Putin's former judo partner, Arkady Rotenberg, are respectively the majority shareholder of Gazprom Drilling and the vice president of Gazprombank.

And Boris Kovalchuk, the son of Putin's longtime friend Yury Kovalchuk, is CEO of the electricity holding InerRAO.

And the list goes on and on...................

The Ukrainian border guard service said in a statement on November 13 that "two Ukrainian citizens and four nationals from Southeast Asia, including two women, were on board" the helicopter that crashed 35 kilometers from Ukraine.

It added that the Mi-2 helicopter was "likely" being used by human traffickers to transport illegal migrants.

Slovak Interior Minister Robert Kalinak said in Bratislava earlier in the day that the accident is believed to have occurred on November 11 near the eastern city of Michalovce but the crash site wasn't discovered until two days later because of thick fog in the area.

Kalinak said the helicopter was trying to evade Slovakia's air-traffic control system and was performing "dangerous maneuvers.".........

Our soldiers managed to revenge them," head of the Luhansk Regional Military Civil Administration Heorhii Tuka wrote. In Russian
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko paid special attention to raising of combat readiness of the State Border Service of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the line in the collision in the antiterrorist operation area at a meeting with security officials on Saturday.

President Poroshenko stressed that terrorists' attacks intensified dramatically along the line of collision, Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the president.

Thus, Poroshenko instructed to introduce an enhanced security regime in the ATO zone.

The President also noted the importance of ensuring security during the elections to be held this Sunday.

"We need to coordinate actions to prevent anyone from breaking the electoral process," the president said.

Poroshenko noted he did not intend to abandon plans to take part in the International Climate Conference, which is scheduled in Paris on Nov. 29. "Neither France, nor Ukraine will be intimidated by the international terrorism, and we are determined to fight all of its manifestations. This is not France's problem, this is the problem for the whole world," he added. In Russian

Russian political scientist and a member of the Public Chamber Sergey Markov believes that after the terrorist attacks that took place yesterday in France, an urgent need to change the power in Ukraine.
The statement Markov posted on his page on the social network "Facebook".
"A series of terrorist attacks in Paris. More than 150 dead. Organizer - IG. This is revenge jihadists people and the state of France for combat missions against the IG in Syria," - he writes.
1. We need urgently to strengthen security in Moscow.
2. Russia, the United States, France, along the IG must crush Syria, Iraq and Libya.
3. It is urgent to stop the conflict between Russia and the West over Ukraine. Junta to replace the technical government to change the Constitution to remove the neo-Nazis to hold new free elections. Kiev junta - is one of the main obstacles to the joint fight US, European Union and Russia against terrorists.
4. Our condolences to the people of France and Paris, one of the great and beautiful cities in the world, "- said Markov.

No comment. These Russians are too sick in the head to be worthy of comment. It beggars belief that somebody - even a Russian - could write such a revolting commentary.
Quite moving.

For me - paying for gas in an apartment - the price of gas seems to be forever changing.
I get used to one tariff, and then another comes along. And now - winter. Yes - in November, it changed to a "winter tariff".
So prices are cheaper in winter!
Frankly, I think it would be better - long term - if they just had one price. Or at least one for domestic users, and one for industry.
Of course, Akhmetov will want cheap gas for his metal business - subsidised by the Ukrainian people.
Current tariffs for natural gas for the population, NKREKU established in early 2015, will continue until April 1, 2016. The chairman of "Naftogaz" Andrew Cobol.
"Until the end of the winter gas tariffs for the population will remain at current levels", - said Cobol....
"I must admit that there was one positive development, given the planning tariff policy in relation to gas in Ukraine. We are talking about a global drop in commodity prices around the world that it is possible, may affect the rescheduling of price increase, "- said Cobol.
According to the head of "Naftogaz", the issue of reducing tariffs for gas for the population will be discussed with the IMF mission, which started on November 12.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the head of "Naftogaz" involves the reduction of tariffs for gas for the population in case of falling prices on imported fuel less than $ 209. Per thousand. Cubic meters.
Real estate prices in Kiev could fall even more because of the unstable dollar exchange rate in Ukraine.
This GolosUA said real estate analyst Sergey Kostecki.
"Market sentiment capital real estate in recent years has deteriorated sharply due to the fact that the dollar, which depend on prices for construction materials and, consequently, on the primary housing, began to" jump "- said the expert.

Basically seems a scare article to get people to take money out of banks and buy apartments.
Not a bad time to buy. But many people not willing to sell at realistic prices.
I don't see why construction materials should be bought in "dollars". Most things are made in Ukraine.

Will West Texas crude fall below 40 next week?
Whatever - a further headache for Putin. His budget for his beloved war weapons is getting smaller and smaller.
Here's the bbc article
Record oil glut stands at 3bn barrels
This should all help Ukraine get through the winter again. In January the gas price should be lower again.
