Hackers have invented a new strategy for the spread of viruses: they send emails with a promise to uncover the plot of subsequent series of "Game of Thrones."
This is stated in a report from the Proofpoint cyber security company.
For the first time, the cybercompany recorded spam attacks with similar content on August 10.
The user receives a letter with the title "Want to see" The Throne Game "in advance?" However, along with the information about the series, the user downloads the malware that is installed on the computer.
Proofpoint claims that similar attacks in the past were carried out by groups associated with the Chinese government, and that once the attacks can be similar.
Earlier, it was reported that hackers stole HBO 1.5 terabytes of data, including scenarios for several episodes of the game "The Game of the Thrones," and subsequently made public the demands for channel management to pay $ 6 million to Bitcoin to prevent the spread of stolen information. Hackers gave the HBO three days to meet the requirements.
Later, The Guardian reported that HBO had offered $ 250,000 hackers to Bitcoin for stolen scripts.
It was also reported that hackers broke the pages of the HBO channel in social networks.
