The United States does not recognize the referendum on independence in Iraqi Kurdistan, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on Friday.
As informs Tsensor.NET, reports Reuters.
"The United States does not recognize the unilateral referendum of the Kurdistan regional government held on Monday, voting and results are not legitimate, and we continue to support a unified, federal, democratic and prosperous Iraq," Tillerson said.
"We call for rest and termination of verbal accusations and mutual threats," he added.
More than 90% of Iraqi Kurds supported the independence of their province in a referendum held on September 25.
Turkish President Erdogan announced after a meeting with Putin that they agreed to consider the Kurdish referendum illegal.
