Scientists think that there could be life on Mars. But certainly not on the surface Empty Scientists think that there could be life on Mars. But certainly not on the surface

Scientists think that life on Mars is possible, but only deep below the surface of the soil

This is stated in the article Nature Geoscience.

At the moment, Mars is a cold planet devoid of water in its liquid state. But the question of whether there were conditions on it that are suitable for the existence of life remains open.

For example, on Earth, there are areas with damp ponds, where there are signs of existence there life in ancient times. Similar areas on Mars are also of increased interest to researchers.

However, a new publication in Nature Geoscience suggests that it may not be the best place to look for evidence of life on the red planet.

Researchers say they themselves are little known about the birth of life on Earth. If you do similar research on another planet, you should expand the scope of the search for signs of life on Mars.

In addition, the conditions on Mars are significantly different from terrestrial. Therefore, existing approaches can be false about Mars, as based on other conditions of development of life on a planet where there is a photosynthesis.

By the time that photosynthesis originated on Earth, Mars was about a billion years old cold and devoid of atmosphere.

Since Mars is less and easier to Earth (the mass of the planet is 10.7% of the Earth's mass), its core was cooled faster, which led to the loss of the magnetic field of the planet.

As a result, about 4 billion years ago, the planet lost most of its atmosphere and, consequently, its protection from solar radiation.

Thus, if life on the surface of Mars developed, it should have happened about a billion years earlier than on Earth, which is unlikely. But the forms of life that originated under the surface may have been a chance.

Researchers note that Mars was unsuitable for living on the surface for much of its existence. But hydrothermal conditions on sites under the surface or adjacent to the surface of the planet could be much more favorable.

In antiquity on Mars, there was hydrothermal activity. Marshall Spirit in 2008 accidentally found an appropriate hydrothermal complex. And in 2020, NASA plans to send a new device to the red planet, which can collect and transmit to the Earth samples of the Martian surface.

Researchers hope that they will be able to extract samples of sediments from mineralized fault zones, where different liquids in the cortex could be mixed, tolerated by various elements.

-Recall that the American company SpaceX and space agency NASA have successfully launched the Falcon 9 missile carrier with the Dragon satellite, which will ship more than two tons of cargo to the International Space Station
Earlier, SpaceX also launched the SES 11 / EchoStar 105 telecommunication satellite.

-Ilon Mask recently revealed new details about the colonization of Mars and plans for SpaceX.
