The forces of the United States-led international coalition blast destroyed the headquarters and command center of the "Islamic State" group near the city of Al-Shafah in the Syrian province of Deir-ez-Zor.

According to the commander of the special forces of the anti-terrorist coalition, Major General of the US Army James Gerrard, as a result of target air strikes on January 20, between 145 and 150 militant groups perished.

He noted that the anti-terrorist coalition and its partners, Syrians' Democrats, who include Kurdish self-defense detachments, will "continue to find, track and kill the terrorists of the Islamic state."

Gerrard added that peaceful residents were not affected by the blow. According to him, the strike was preceded by a reconnaissance operation, which involved the fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

According to the anti-terrorist coalition, the "Islamic State" group has already lost 98% of the territory seized in Iraq and Syria in 2014.

At present, under the control of militants, there are several desert areas in Syria.

The US-led anti-terrorist coalition has announced another success in destroying the "Islamic State" group at a time when the Turkish army launched Operation Olive Branch in Syria.

The Turkish armed forces have caused more than 100 air strikes in the Syrian city of Afrin.
