French Minister of Finance re-accused of rape of girl in exchange for legal aid

On Saturday, the Paris Court confirmed the reopening of the case against Herald Darminin, the budget minister. The lawsuit states that the minister has forced a woman to intercourse in exchange for legal aid.
The potential victim of Sophie Spatz first turned to the police in mid-2017, but the case was closed because the prosecutor did not appear for questioning. She filed a retrial in mid-January.
Darnin's lawyer accused the girl of being "grossly trying to harm" the reputation of the politician and is about to sue her for libel.
In support of Darminin, Justice Minister Nicole Belloube and Minister of Agriculture Stephanie Herve have already spoken, claiming that Darmanin is not guilty until the court decides otherwise.
In October 2017, French authorities began the process of depriving the Hollywood producer Garvey Weinstein of the Order of the Legion of Honor because of suspicion of sexual harassment.
In November 2017, the French government proposed to set a sexual consent age of 13 years.
About 100 prominent French women at the initiative of the actress, Katrin Deniev, have criticized the #MeToo campaign against sexual harassment.
