American scholars have discovered an ancient city in Mexico that has more than 40,000 buildings

This is reported by The Guardian.

Scientists at the University of Colorado found a huge city called Angamuko in the woods of western Mexico. The settlement is considered to be the place of residence of the Indian people of the Purerepe that was there until the arrival of Europeans in the XVI century.

The researchers used the latest Lidar technology to help obtain and process information about distant objects, using light reflection and its dispersion in transparent and translucent environments. Thus, scientists have developed a three-dimensional map of the territory, removing all trees from it, leaving only the foundations of buildings.

"It was a huge area with a large population and a large number of architectural buildings, and if we count, it's about 40,000 buildings. In fact, we are talking about the same density of development as in Manhattan," said Chris Fischer, chairman of the study.

A team of researchers also found that Anhamuko has an unusual plan for building. All the pyramids and large squares are located not in the city center but beyond. According to Fisher, it is believed that over 100,000 people lived in Anhamuko during its heyday between X and XIII centuries.

Earlier, using the technology of Lidar in Guatemala, the city of Maya was discovered under the woods . Subsequently, National Geographics showed video discovery.
