Special services prevented a terrorist attack in Berlin

The attacker intended to strike at the participants and viewers of the famous semi-marathon with two sharpened knives

In Berlin on Sunday, April 8, they prevented a terrorist attack that could happen during the traditional semi-marathon. The secret services detained a total of 6 people, among them the main suspect. This was reported by the police in Berlin on Twitter.

According to the Die Welt newspaper, the attacker intended to attack the participants and spectators of the semi-marathon with two sharpened knives. The publication also reports that the main detainee relates to Anisa Amri, a suspected terrorist act in Berlin on December 19, 2016, who was shot dead 4 days after the crime.

According to intelligence services, a suspect detained in Berlin intended to take revenge on Amri's death in this way. At the same time, it was emphasized that there was no "direct threat", since a potential terrorist was under the supervision of the special services for a long time. It is also indicated in the absence of a connection between the detentions and the incident in Münster, which occurred on the eve of 7 April.

The current Berlin semi-marathon was attended by a record number of athletes - 32 thousand. Good weather in the German capital attracted a lot of viewers. Sen. Andreas Geisel announced on Sunday morning of increased security after the attack in Münster.

Recall that in the center of Munster on Saturday the truck crashed into a crowd of people. The place of the event was surrounded by police, and a large-scale operation is under way . The suspect in committing a crime shot dead still on the scene.

More than 30 people were injured, six of them were injured for life.

The truck found a suspicious item in the truck.

According to the police, the information is checked that two more people jumped out of the truck and disappeared from the scene.
