Senator McCain decided to stop cancer treatment

American senator John McCain decided to stop treating brain tumors that he was diagnosed with in 2017.

This is reported by CNN with reference to the McCain family.

Family members said that John "has surpassed the expected results of treatment."

"However, the development of illness and the inexorable influence of the age impose a verdict. With the power of his will, he decided to finish medical treatment", - says the family's statement.

The family thanked everyone for their support during the past year.

Later, McCain's daughter in her Twitter wrote: "My family is very grateful for all the love and generosity that you gave us during this year. Thank you for your continued support and prayer. We would not be able to survive without you - you gave us the strength to do it."

In December 2017, US Senator John McCain was hospitalized for side effects of cancer therapy.
