The 35-page report on the potential costs Brexit Germany after stating that the British withdrawal from the EU threatens "serious economic consequences that will have an impact, particularly on the real economy."
Economy Ministry officials estimate that Berlin will have to pay an additional 4.5 billion euros per year to the treasury of the EU after Brexit. To reduce costs, they promote the idea of charging for access to the UK's single market.
"These future funding should be used to mitigate the financial consequences of withdrawal of Britain from the EU (European Union to reduce costs or increase payments to other Member States)," - said one of the officials of the Ministry.
The report also states that the withdrawal of Britain from the EU will lead to additional pressure on the German tax and customs authorities through new tax liabilities for products and services from British companies.
