Ukraine crisis. News is brief. Thursday 17 September [Ukrainian sources]
Thu Sep 17, 2015 12:48 am
THURSDAY
Please scroll down to view news items added during the course of the day
News -
Putin attacked Ukrainians 3 times yesterday. Small arms fire each time, I understand.
Update at 13.00 - no deaths, no injuries of Ukrainian soldiers.
Ukraine has produced a new sanctions list. Russian banks etc. But also foreign journalists.
Strangely includes Rosenberg of the bbc who hasn't reported at all this year. Wierd... something wierd somewhere..
Weather -
Lovely day again. Sunshine, high in the mid-20s. Comfortable.
Footie -
Dynamo drew 2-2 last night. Pity they couldn't win. But not a bad result.
I think their group will be close - Chelsea - Tel Aviv also in the group. Chelsea won 4-0 against the latter.
Today - Dnipro v Lazio in the Europa League. Expect a close game.

From the article it seems as if the Russian regulars are trying to get rid of the terrorists that Putin sent in initially.

What will Lavrov and Putin decide to send this time to Shaun Walker's "DNR guys"??

Ukraine Sanctions Russian Officials And Foreign Journalists
Thu Sep 17, 2015 1:16 am
http://www.rferl.org/content/ukraine-sanctions-russian-officials-foreign-journalists/27252881.html
==========
Long long overdue.
There have been many journalists caught carrying ammunition and explosives to the terrorists.
Expect the pro-Russians and cuckoo liberals to wax lyrical about this. But there is a war going on in which 10,000 people have died.
More here in The Guardian
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/sep/16/ukraine-president-bans-journalists-from-country
===
Wierd. Looks like Rosenberg - bbc in Moscow - has been banned, but he hasn't written one article this year!!
He's been replaced by Rainsford some time ago. Wierd... Apparently this list is more in response to what happened in Crimea.
Ukraine needs to be more pro-active. No point in banning Rosenberg. He's long gone. Better Shaun Walker and his Kremlin buddies.
Unless the Ukrainian government know something I don't know.
Rosenberg, Wells - who knows... Wells is close to Shaun Walker... Some detail would be nice.
Seems they've banned the wrong people to me. ...

New Sanctions list here

English version: In English
In fact, I can't open anything on the president's website. Wierd. Internet working fine. Maybe very busy at the moment..
and half an hour on, I still can't open it.
I have a feeling that Poroshenko has made a big mistake with some on this list.
Maybe he has pro-Russians still working in his office. Possible. Or else they know much more than we do.
I can only go on what the journalists write. Idiots like Graham Phillips need banning. Shaun Walker - debatable.
But Rosenberg? I am shocked. He has not written one word this year on Ukraine. Nothing. Something wierd somewhere.
===
Thanks Admin for links above, and below. pdf.
Translation version is pretty good, but not perfect.
For example, for Wells it misses out the word "Russian" before Federation at the end.

I still can't download the list here. But thanks for admin posting a file.
Spelling may be wrong. Transliterating from the Ukrainian, as best I can.
13 Cesar Vidal . Spain journalist
69 Steve Rosenberg. English. bbc. No details really. Did he enter the Crimea illegally?
70 Antonio Rodrigez. Spanish correspondent
72. Mikael Ruti. German journalist.
73. Ferenc Szaniszly, Hungarian
74. Manuel Sastre . Spanish.
78. Emma Wells. bbc. English.
83. Anton Chicherov bbc
286. Bartolome Lopez Medina. Spain
332. Andres Ramajo Salomon
337. Brian Rodrigues Perez . Spain.
330. Pushilin - DNR
323 - Plotnitsky! The LNR Leader.
Much of the rest of the list - Russians. A number of Israelis, a number of Greeks, Italians.
Did Rosenberg et co. enter Crimea illegally? That's my initial thought. Violated the terms of entry to Ukraine...
Or - they reported on Ukrainian troop movements? That has been suggested elsewhere.
Quite a list of journalists from all over. Latvia, Slovakia, Hungary, several from Spain.
Rosenberg is the only one I have heard of, to be honest. But the Spanish ones and the German may be known.
What will be the reaction of the press?
Normally the journalists stick together. Even if one of them commits murder.
So I expect a lot of anti-Ukrainian rhetoric during the next few days.
It would - however - be nice to know the details.

Ukraine crisis: Rebel election decision 'great danger' to peace [Engl. bbc]
Thu Sep 17, 2015 3:53 am
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-34275394

The article mentions the sanctions list towards the end.
But - does not name the bbc journalists on the list. Wierd also.
They've almost hidden this news away. I was expecting some big spiel from the bbc on this.
Word is that the SBU investigated the journalists.
Rosenberg disappeared on New Year's Eve last year. Nothing at all since from him. Also wierd.
So likely it is to do with Crimea?

"What is happening, then the ratio of Kiev pushes us and pushes us out of the process of integration with Ukraine. And today we are left with only one way - the way back to his own family. Integration LC in Russia - this is an objective and, most likely, the inevitable process which conforms to the fundamental interests and aspirations of Lugansk region "- said Plotnitski.

Ukrainian Lawmakers Back Debt Pact, Ending Concern of Revolt [Engl]
Thu Sep 17, 2015 7:58 am
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-09-17/ukrainian-lawmakers-back-debt-pact-ending-concern-over-revolt
Ukraine’s parliament approved a pact negotiated by the government to restructure $18 billion of foreign debt, dispelling concern that a revolt by lawmakers would scupper the deal and jeopardize the flow of bailout funds.
Legislation to finalize the accord was backed by more than 300 deputies from ruling and opposition parties in the 450-seat chamber Thursday in Kiev. The result means the restructuring, sealed in August, can continue as planned.

Not a bad article.
But I would add that Ukrainian men are very prone to alcoholism - for whatever reason. Cheap alcohol perhaps being one of them.
A bottle of beer for 25 p - 35 cents. 3 beers for a dollar... They need to double the price, and then double it again the following year.

SBU - Berlusconi banned from entering Ukraine
Thu Sep 17, 2015 8:44 am

The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine said that Berlusconi broke the established order of entry in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and Russia so trying to legitimize the illegal occupation of and shows disrespect for the sovereignty of Ukraine.

Sad. I've been on holiday there, more than once. But never again, it would seem.

=====
Contraband is big BIG money for those who control it on the frontline with Donetsk / Lugansk.
Worth millions and millions. Controlled by Ukrainian law enforcement for sure - but who? Sometimes the police, sometimes the SBU, sometimes the military on the checkpoint, sometimes all of them, and sometimes they have an argument and this happens. Not surprisingly, the report does not say where this happened.

AND what pizzas me off more than anything - REMOVAL OF IMMUNITY. Immunity with impunity is clogging the system which is why you have the problems above.
Further, a simple one, for Pete's sake, BAN the use of cell phones, tablets, portable PCs and the reading of newspapers while in the Rada. These cretins come to work, NOT to conduct business, play games, arrange lunches with mistresses and so on.
Putin’s agenda for Donbas – Russian expert
Thu Sep 17, 2015 5:27 pm
Recently, Putin sent a clear message he will not annex Donbas, says Russian expert Andrei Piontkovsky in the Apostrof Sept. 17.
“There is nothing new in such declarations. For over a year after the collapse of his New Russia project to tear away several Ukraine’s oblasts from Kyiv Putin has been baiting Ukrainians with illusory territorial integrity of their country by saying, “Russia is not taking part in the conflict, we are for the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The conflict was started by Ukraine eastern oblasts. Now Kyiv has to talk to them and discuss their federalization.”
A couple of days ago Putin’s chief of staff Peskov openly admitted Moscow is not going to implement the Minsk agreements – “Why do they demand that we implement some agreements? We are no party to the conflict.”
Kremlin’s cherished dream is to throw now absolutely destroyed breakaway republics (with most valuable industrial equipment pillaged by Moscow) on Ukraine’s neck. Their criminal leaders, if the elections are held now, will sit in the Kyiv Rada and bloc Ukraine’s integration into Europe.
Moreover, Ukraine must pay for the damage done, Putin believes.
Peskov’s and Putin’s declarations put the lid on the implementation of the Minsk agreements by Russia which totally controls the rebels.
I hope, Ukrainian fully realize this cunning plan of Pres Putin,” the Russian expert says.

Kremlin Condemns Media Inclusion In Ukraine Sanctions
Thu Sep 17, 2015 5:32 pm
On September 16, Ukraine barred a few dozen reporters, including three BBC journalists, from entering the country as an unspecified security threat.
The media representatives were part of a sanctions list signed by President Petro Poroshenko barring nearly 400 individuals from entering Ukraine, including BBC correspondent Steve Rosenberg and producer Emma Wells, both British, and Russian cameraman Anton Chicherov.
Also on the list of banned journalists are Antonio Pampliega and Angel Sastre, two Spanish reporters who disappeared in Syria in July and are believed to have been kidnapped by the Islamic State militant group, and two reporters for Russian news agencies in South Africa and Turkey with no clear links to Ukraine.
The New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists said in a statement that it was "dismayed" by Poroshenko's actions.
"While the government may not like or agree with the coverage, labeling journalists a potential threat to national security is not an appropriate response," said the committee's Europe and Central Asia program coordinator, Nina Ognianova.

Rada approves arrest of Radical Party MP, brawl ensues
Mosiychuk can now be arrested
Before showing the video Shokin said that the Prosecutor General's Office was investigating into grave and especially grave crimes committed by one of the MPs. According to him, enough evidence was collected proving the deputy’s guilt.
A brawl between the MPs from the Radical Party and the Coalition followed the vote, after Oleh Lyashko, the Radicals’ leader, was denied addressing the parliament.
Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Hroisman decided to suspend the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada amid fighting in the session hall.

Why should it be a problem for Lyashko. The dude was caught red-handed. Is he going to say it's not true? So he wants this to continue in Ukraine, with the bribes of Parliament officials? He must be pissed that Poroshenko's coming down on this stuff. Fricking jack-ass.

We've all seen and read of government officials being arrested and charged by the current government, but when one of their own is arrested by the same procedures they say the government's not fulfilling, they raise a stink.
There are criminals in every cavity of the government. In the US political officials have been busted on both sides. No difference in Ukraine. Do they or don't they want to clean their party also. Or is everyone else is a criminal but there aren't any in their party. Well! This couldn't have been made any clearer that he was caught performing a crime.
Wonder what the radicals are going to do now, start their own Maidan because of their denial the one of their own got caught and they should be above the law? Nobody's above the law. Watch them make a stink about this event. They should protect Bandera's name and follow the law of the land as he would've wanted, to make their country a just country for all not just for a few. They should be fighting against crime together for all Ukrainians and the entire country. Crime doesn't have a party.
