Russia acknowledges some of its expelled diplomats are spies

Savchenko - Ukraine News. Wednesday 28 March. [Ukrainian sources] Censor_news_big3

There were foreign intelligence officers among the Russian diplomats expelled by the West.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Vedomosti news outlet, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin told journalists.

"There are formal members of our agency - foreign intelligence officers - among the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There are very few of them. These persons, who were properly formally presented to [the authorities of] these countries as foreign intelligence officers, provided interaction with the secret services of these countries through the so-called partner channels," Naryshkin said.

He called the expulsion of Russian diplomats "a very dirty and cynical provocation," which creates an "environment of Russophobia." "The blowback will soon follow. It will be a proper retaliation, and a rather tough one," Naryshkin stressed.

As reported, Russian ex-spy Sergei Skripal, 66, and daughter Yulia Skripal, 33, remain critically ill in hospital, after they were found unconscious on a bench in the Wiltshire city on March 4. The UK government says they were poisoned with a nerve agent of a type developed by Russia called Novichok and PM Theresa May said she believed Moscow was "culpable."

UK expelled 23 Russian diplomats as part of a "full and robust" response – prompting Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to say it will "certainly" expel British diplomats in response.

On March 16, Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said the alliance had "no reason to doubt the findings and assessments by the British government" which suggested Russian responsibility. He said the "UK is not alone" and Nato allies gave "strong political support" to Britain, following a joint statement from the US, France and Germany backing Mrs May's government and a pledge of support from Australia.

British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson said that the U.K.'s government believes that it was likely Putin's decision to direct the use of a nerve agent on the streets of the U.K.

On March 26, U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the expulsion of 60 Russians from the United States, including 12 people identified as Russian intelligence officers who have been stationed at the United Nations in New York.

"The end result – 151 Russian intelligence personnel sent home to Moscow," - US State Department

Savchenko - Ukraine News. Wednesday 28 March. [Ukrainian sources] Censor_news_big3

Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State Heather Nauert says USA, the United Kingdom, NATO, and now 25 other countries have so far announced the expulsions of 151 Russian personnel following the incident in British Salisbury.

"The end result – 151 Russian intelligence personnel sent home to Moscow – is a testimony of how seriously the world takes Russia’s ongoing global campaign to undermine international peace and stability, to threaten the sovereignty and security of countries worldwide, and to subvert and discredit Western institutions," Nauert told a briefing on March 27, Censor.NET reports.

"To highlight for you – and I can provide you this list, and I’ll just read a few of those countries who, in concert with the United States and the UK, of course, are working together on this: Ukraine deciding to expel 13; NATO, we learned this morning, 7; France, 4; Germany, 4; Poland, 4; Canada, 4; Lithuania, 8; the Czech Republic, 3; Moldova, 3, we just learned about that today; the Netherlands, 2; Denmark, 2; Albania, 2; Italy, 2; Spain, Australia, both 2; Romania, Estonia, 1 each; Latvia, Croatia, Sweden, Macedonia, Norway, Hungary, Finland, and Ireland, 1 each for those countries; and we’ve just most recently learned of Belgium deciding to kick out 1. The United Kingdom, of course, deciding to expel 23," the State Department spokesperson said.

As reported, Russian ex-spy Sergei Skripal, 66, and daughter Yulia Skripal, 33, remain critically ill in hospital, after they were found unconscious on a bench in the Wiltshire city on March 4. Tension in Donbas increasing again, - US Envoy Volker

Savchenko - Ukraine News. Wednesday 28 March. [Ukrainian sources] Censor_news_big3

U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker says the situation in the Donabs was much better in the last few weeks, but now the tension is increasing again.

As Volker said in an interview with Voice of America, he will visit Ukraine, particularly the conflict zone in Donbas, where the security situation has escalated, in late April or early May, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"I will visit the eastern areas of the country to see the conflict zone from the Ukrainian side. I want to meet with my Ukrainian colleagues in Kyiv," he said.

"I would like to hear a response from Russia in order to understand what we can talk about," Volker noted.

The U.S. Special Representative also told about preparations for a likely meeting of U.S. president Donald Trump with Russian president Vladimir Putin in the near future.

"We are already working on this issue. We are in constant contact with the White House on Ukraine. We have taken a very clear stance. We work very closely with our allies and friends in Europe, as well as with the Ukrainian government. We are really very disappointed with Russia's aggressive actions throughout the world: attacks in the UK with the use of poison, or in Syria, or continuation of ceasefire violations in Ukraine," Volker said.

Ukraine’s Poroshenko: "242 children killed by Russian aggressors since 2014"

The Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine has claimed lives of 242 children since 2014.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said meeting with participants of the all-Ukrainian rally Children unite Ukraine held in Kyiv today.

"242 children have been killed by the Russian aggressors since 2014," Poroshenko said, Censor.NET reports citing the video he posted on social media.

The president also recalled that a great number of children were killed in Syria where the Russian troops are conducting a military operation.

"It is absolutely unacceptable when children get used to hear sounds of Grad rockets. They have already learned to distinguish a 120-mm mortar shelling from a heavy 150-mm howitzer one, and how to survive a bombardment. It is a common knowledge among the children of Avdiivka," Poroshenko said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has accused London of failing to guarantee the security of Russian citizens in the UK

Savchenko - Ukraine News. Wednesday 28 March. [Ukrainian sources] Censor_news_big3

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the British authorities were not able to guarantee the Russians' security in their territory.

According to the Censor.Net is said in a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"The British authorities systematically demonstrate the inability to guarantee the security of Russian citizens in their territory, such as the poisoning of former Russian FSB officer O. Litvinenko, the deaths of Russian businessmen B.Patarkatsishvili and A.Perepilichny, in the uncertain circumstances, a mysterious" suicide " B. Berezovsky and strangulation of his business partner M. Glushkov and, finally, an attempt on the life and health of S. Skrypala and Y. Scribel", - the statement reads.

"In the latter case, London ignored all the norms of international law, ethics and just common sense. Without giving any evidence, and not even putting forward any concrete picture of the event, London accused Russia of poisoning its own citizens, dropped the name of a chemical that was never used in us, has launched a large-scale political and media campaign, an unsubstantiated expulsion of Russian diplomats from a number of countries and representations in international organizations, a series of other sanction measures has been announced. gi give examples of applied material were ignored,"- said the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"The analysis of the aggregate of all circumstances shows the British authorities' lack of interest in finding out the true motives and establishing the perpetrators of the crime in Salisbury and suggests us of the possible involvement of the British intelligence services. If the Russian side is not provided with convincing evidence to the contrary, we will assume that we are dealing with the assassination of our fellow citizens as a result of the greatest political provocation. We emphasize that the burden of proof in this story lies on the British side", - summed up in the Russian AP.

Recall that an investigation into an assassination attempt by Sergei Skryptal and his daughter, Julia, continues. Sergey Skryple, former Colonel of the GRU stockpile, who lived in the United Kingdom and was convicted in 2006 for espionage in favor of British intelligence services, was hurt by the poisoning of an unknown substance at the Salisbury shopping mall.

It should also be noted that on March 12, Prime Minister Teresa May announced that the British government had come to the conclusion that the responsibility for poisoning in Salisbury, a former GRG employee Sergey Skrypala and his daughter, most likely, lies in Russia. She also reported that the victims were poisoned by the nerve-paralytic substance "Novachok", which was developed in the Russian Federation.

On Wednesday, March 14, May announced the decision of London to send 23 Russian diplomats who work for intelligence: "This will be the largest single expulsion in more than 30 years. This (this measure) reflects the fact that the Russian state is not the first time acting against our country "

On March 20, 23 employees of the Russian Embassy in London, as well as their families left Great Britain.

At the EU summit, which ended March 23, the European Union countries supported the United Kingdom. Some countries, including Poland, are considering the expulsion of Russian diplomats.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that 13 Russian diplomats are signing solidarity with their British partners and transatlantic allies and in coordination with the European Union.

The deportation of Russian diplomats was announced by the United States , Canada and 14 European countries, including Germany, France, Italy, the Czech Republic and others. In the statements of Washington and Ottawa, the expatriate diplomats who were expelled were accused of having links with Russian intelligence and "abusing diplomatic powers." MERT is working on a plan to bring Ukraine out of the US customs duties on aluminum and steel

Ukrainian associations of industrialists have already stated that American duties may hurt to hit the domestic budget.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MERT) is working on the withdrawal of Ukrainian products from the import duties on steel and aluminum, which the White House Administration introduced on March 23. According to Vice Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv, negotiations on this issue with Ambassador Mari Yovanovich in the near future should take place, reports "Channel 5".

"The position of the Ukrainian side to the top management of the United States suggests considering the expediency of organizing a meeting at the level of Ukraine with the United States Ambassador. We informed the Government and the President accordingly on this direction of work. We prepared proposals, consulting the business, with associations on that road map, which we have to go through in the legislative field ", - said the deputy prime minister.

Ukrainian Association of Manufacturers has said that US duties may hurt the Ukrainian budget. This happens particularly because of the reaction of the European Union, which has already started investigation into the introduction of similar duties, and these measures Ukraine can become even more painful than the US actions.

"In the US, we supply metal products (which got under the duty - Ed.) Somewhere for $ 150 million. In the European Union, we supply such products at $ 1.3 billion," said Alexander Kalenkov, president of the Ukrmetalurgprom business association.

Experts also note that such measures will lead to a reduction in output of steel products in the country, the loss of thousands of jobs, reducing revenue and foreign exchange earnings.

"If the labor force is reduced proportionally, which is about 25-30 thousand jobs, then this is a fairly large volume transported by Ukrzaliznytsya, etc. This means that it will be a dominant effect for the Ukrainian economy. Therefore, it is very important that now it is was one of the priorities for our officials, "Kalenkov said.

Missiles do not explode, bullets do not spill over, engines do not start: Azerbaijan is unhappy with arms supplies from Russia

Savchenko - Ukraine News. Wednesday 28 March. [Ukrainian sources] Censor_news_big3

Azerbaijan expresses many claims to the development and status of Russian-Azerbaijani military-technical cooperation, first of all through the supply of low-quality weapons.

As the Tsenzor.NET, writes about "Belarussian praўda".

According to the publication, Baku is very dissatisfied with the status and quality of military-technical cooperation with Moscow and is trying to find an alternative to this cooperation.

Thus, at the end of last year, during a closed meeting of the Russian-Azerbaijani military-technical cooperation commission, Baku raised questions and paid special attention to Russia's compliance with its obligations to supply military equipment to Azerbaijan in the framework of executed and effective contracts.

During the commission, Baku expressed many claims to the development and status of Russian-Azerbaijani military-technical cooperation.

"Firstly, it was expressed dissatisfaction with the fulfillment of the terms of contracts for the supply of T-90S, BMP-3, BTR-82, SAU" Mst-C", RZZV" Smerch", MRK" Tor-M2 "and other Russian armaments, the main complaints consisted in the inconsistency of the equipment provided in the lists of technical equipment specified in the contracts, the lack of technical documentation, the failure of some samples of weapons due to apparent factory defects, as well as in the absence of components for ongoing repairs.

Secondly, the Azerbaijani side noted that the missiles for the Smerch RZSV do not explode during firing; the ammunition to the BTR-82A machine guns does not reach the target at all, while the Mi-35 helicopters permanently fix the breakdown of thermocouples that prevent the engine from starting . Also, there are malfunctions in the operation of the on-board equipment, the proper operation of the system of automatic fire and firing missiles "Ataka-M" and "Storm-V" does not work properly, "the article says.

In addition, as the newspaper writes, despite the fact that official Baku firmly insists on the elimination of all problems during 2018, the Russian side points out the impossibility of this and proposes a solution to the problem by 2021, due to the current under-financing of its military-industrial complex. At the same time, the problems with the fulfillment by Russia of its obligations under export contracts in the last few years are not isolated, but systemic.

"According to experts, in the case of Azerbaijan, such problems may have a deliberate nature, which determines the need for the Russian leadership to balance between obtaining foreign exchange earnings from export contracts from Baku, which are usually signed at very high prices and containment of military capabilities. the latter in confrontation with Armenia, which is formally an ally of Moscow in the Caucasus, and is in a state of armed confrontation with Azerbaijan, nor should it be forgotten that Russia supplies poor-quality armaments not only Azerbaijan, but also other partners very actualizes the issue of further exploitation of the technology. With the monopoly of the manufacturer, Moscow puts the buyer in a tight dependence and gets the opportunity to sign additional contracts for repairs and modernization, "the publication writes.

In 2015, during a military exercise joint with the Americans, the Patriot complex was first launched in Poland . Then the country's leadership still decided on the supply of air defense systems.

As it became known on the eve, the US State Department approved the proposed sale of $47 million to Javelin anti-tank missiles and rocket launchers to Ukraine.

In the United States filed a lawsuit against Facebook

Savchenko - Ukraine News. Wednesday 28 March. [Ukrainian sources] 206d18eba834e7742

The Federal Court of California (US) has filed a lawsuit against Facebook.

This was  reported by Reuters.

"Three users of the Facebook Messenger application filed a lawsuit against Facebook, stating that the social network has violated the confidentiality of their personal data by collecting records of their phone calls and text messages," the statement said.

According to the applicants, their claim claims to the status of collective action on behalf of all affected users.

Facebook has not commented on this information at this time.

Earlier, the developer from New Zealand found that Facebook was following the calls and sms on Android.

Soon other Facebook users reported  similar incidents.

The editor of the Ars Technica edition, Sean Gallagher, reviewed the information and  found that the company was collecting data about his calls and sms in 2015 and 2016 when he used smartphones on Android.

Representatives of Facebook said they believed the collection of such data was a normal practice and explained that it was needed to improve the system of recommendations.

Recall that Cambridge Analytica, an analyst with Donald Trump's US presidential campaign,  illegally accessed  more than 50 million Facebook users.

Zuckerberg lost over $5  billion through the data stream of 50 million Facebook users.

Journalists found that Cambridge Analytica  was collecting data about Donbass  at the request of the authorities.

Zuckerberg  acknowledged the mistakes  of the scandal regarding the use of personal data. Facebook has blocked access to any services for Cambridge Analytica.

Mark  Zuckerberg was invited to the European Parliament  to explain the situation.

At CA offices in London on March 23,  they searched.

Facebook has introduced new features to protect data

Facebook has introduced new features that help protect users from data leakage.

It says CNBC.

In particular, users can view the data they store on Facebook and change them as needed. Changes are possible from search history to friend requests.

Also, the social network administration has changed the settings menu on smartphones to simplify the search. In addition, a quick access menu for confidential information was added.

Facebook introduces the "Access to Your Information" tool so that users can see the comments they wrote or post - they can also be deleted if necessary.

The company is assured that it will offer new terms of service and constantly update its data protection policy.

Facebook has emphasized that most of the updates have already been "in work for a long time," but recent events "emphasized their importance".

Earlier, SpaceX and Playboy removed their Facebook pages.

Recall that Cambridge Analytica, an analyst with Donald Trump's US presidential campaign, illegally accessed more than 50 million Facebook users.

Cambridge Analytica offers services to business and policy makers that allow "behavior change" . That is, to influence their choice - whether it will be buying a sofa, or electing a president.

Zuckerberg lost more than $ 5 billion through the data stream of 50 million Facebook users.

The Air Force said that Cambridge Analytica was collecting data on the Donbas commissioned by the authorities.

Since the start of the scandal with the source of data Facebook has lost $80 billion

Since the start of the scandal with the origins of personal data, the market value of Facebook has fallen by $80 billion.

This is reported by CNN.

Since March 16, 2018, the market value of the company has been plummet due to personal data of 50 million social network users by Cambridge Analytica (CA) for election purposes.

Since the start of the scandal, the company's stock price has fallen by 18%. At the same time, according to CNN estimates, the wealth of the owner of the social network has decreased by $14 billion.

Falling stocks in Facebook caused a general fall in the market. The market value of the leading social networks has decreased significantly. Specifically, Google shares dropped by 7%, and Twitter was "asleep" by as much as 20%.

Investors are worried that after the Facebook scandal, social networks will be subject to more stringent regulations in the US and in the world.

"The introduction of additional regulation will negatively affect the development of these three companies and reduce their profitability for investors," the report said.

Recently, the head of the Facebook social network, Mark Zuckerberg, has decided to testify in the US Congress due to the leak of data from British social network users.

In the British Parliament Zuckerberg declined to testify .

Recall that Cambridge Analytica, an analyst with Donald Trump's US presidential campaign, illegally accessed more than 50 million Facebook users.

The journalists found that Cambridge Analytica was collecting data about the Donbas commissioned by the Ukrainian authorities.

Zuckerberg acknowledged the mistakes against the scandal regarding the use of personal data. Facebook has blocked access to any services for Cambridge Analytica.

Mark Zuckerberg was invited to the European Parliament to explain the situation.

At CA offices in London on March 23, they searched.

Naftogaz commented on the permission of Germany for the construction of the North Stream-2

Naftogaz of Ukraine called the decision of Germany to allow the construction of the "North Stream-2" to be "unpleasant, but predictable".

This is stated in the company's statement on the Facebook page.

"This is an unpleasant but predictable progress. He does not stop the cure. The best defense for Ukraine, which will help us and our allies, is the completion of the gas market reform. The fight is going on,"- says the statement.

The company was reminded that the official Germany "persistently calls this project" exclusively commercial ", and considers it a business limited by the interests of several companies with the appropriate regulatory regime."

"The European Commission, the European Parliament, the majority of EU countries, Ukraine, the USA, Canada and a large part of German politics do not think so. The mantra of "exclusive commercialization" obviously does not relieve the risks of this project for the energy and national security of Europe", - stressed in Naftogaz.

On January 31, Germany allowed the "Nord Stream 2" to be built on its territory, and on March 27 it allowed construction.

President Petro Poroshenko said that North Stream 2 monopolizes Russia's supply of gas to the EU.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Moravecki said he believes North Stream 2 is dangerous for Europe , and especially for the Baltic region.

Savchenko - Ukraine News. Wednesday 28 March. [Ukrainian sources] Empty The Times spoke about the real effect of the expulsion of Putin's diplomats from Britain

Wed Mar 28, 2018 1:11 pm
The Times spoke about the real effect of the expulsion of Putin's diplomats from Britain

Oppression from more than two dozen countries of Russian diplomats will undermine the intelligence capabilities of the Kremlin and virtually destroy the "KGB's espionage system," which was built for decades.

Writes The Times.

Probably, the president of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, will try to use the expulsion of diplomats to form the enemy's image for the Russians in the person of the West.

It is also noted in the material that the largest deportation of representatives of the Kremlin took place in 1971. Then the British government of Edward Hitta expelled 90 of the 550 employees of the Soviet embassy in London and closed the entrance to the United Kingdom to 15 diplomats because of defector Oleg Lyalin. Then the USSR sent 18 British diplomats. And in 1985, in response to the expulsion from London of 25 diplomats, the same number of Britons left Moscow.

Representatives of British intelligence agencies expect that the expulsion of Russian diplomats "will harm the Moscow network of spies," while other countries do not want to take these people.

The authors of the material suggest that the coordinated response of the West "will show Moscow that attempts to commit an offensive abroad will entail severe consequences, it will deprive Russia of a useful consulate in America, it will melt Putin's hope that he can set up Western countries against each other, he will inflict a blow to the pride of a former KGB officer".

It will also affect ordinary Russians who may now face problems when entering the West or trying to obtain a visa. In addition, the scandal will affect the desire of investors to come to Russia and buried hopes for the expansion of scientific, cultural and educational ties.

We remind that 27 countries announced the deportation of 151 Russian diplomats in connection with the international scandal that broke out about the poisoning of the former intelligence officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia in British Salisbury.

An official spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, made a hysterical appearance on the expulsion of Russian diplomats from a number of countries , calling what is happening with the provocation of the Great Britain.

Savchenko - Ukraine News. Wednesday 28 March. [Ukrainian sources] Empty The United States is expecting from the Czech Republic the issuance of a Russian hacker suspected of stealing data

Wed Mar 28, 2018 1:16 pm
The United States is expecting from the Czech Republic the issuance of a Russian hacker suspected of stealing data

The United States expects the Czechs to give them a suspect in the abduction of Russian hacker Yevhen Nikulina

This was announced during a visit to the Czech Republic by Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Paul Ryan, reports Radio Liberty.

Ryan said that "there is every reason to believe and expect Mr. Nikulin to be extradited to America."

"The United States has the right to take priority over being extradited to the United States, both because of the severity of the crime that the United States has suffered, as well as the time of the request for extradition," the congressman said.

Yevgeny Nikulin was arrested in the Czech Republic in October 2016 on the basis of an Interpol order issued on request by the United States. In the United States, Nikulin is accused of stealing information in Internet companies LinkedIn, Dropbox and a number of others. Russian lawyers claim that FBI agents in the United States demanded him to confess to the fragmentation of US Democratic Party resources during the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign. Nikulin denied his involvement in cyberattacks on US Democratic Party servers and other allegations.

After the arrest, Nikulin accused the United States of persecuting her citizens and promised to fight for the hacker's extradition, requesting his extradition on the allegations of theft via the Internet.

In 2017, the Czech court ruled that the 30-year-old Nikulin could be issued both by the United States and Russia. The final decision on the country of issue of a Russian should be approved by the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic.

The intelligence officer told BuzzFeed that Lesina was beaten by a baseball bat. Another source of the publication, familiar with the results of the autopsy, said that Lesin had broken ribs, which had not been reported previously.

At the same time, the FBI agent said that the bureau had no "man" who believed that "this boy was drunk, fell and died." "Everyone thinks he was beaten up, and the Kremlin and Putin are behind it," he added.

BuzzFeed also writes, according to two FBI staff members, that Lesin's hotel room was paid by the US Department of Justice. According to the publication, the murder occurred the day before Lesin had to testify about Russia Today's television channel, which he founded. As if he was going to tell US officials, "how the propaganda machine works."

In 2015, allegedly, Lesin, fearing for his life, "hid" in Switzerland, and then left for the United States.

The EU has developed a plan that will allow the American troops to roll over faster in Europe

The European Union presented a plan to increase military mobility in Europe, the lack of special permits for the transfer of US troops

This was stated by EU High Representative Federika Mogherini, commenting on the Action Plan on Military Mobility, reports Reuters.

"By contributing to mobility within the EU, we can be more effective in crisis prevention, more effective in deploying our missions and responding more quickly to challenges," Maugerini said.

NATO considers it extremely important to overcome the physical, procedural and regulatory barriers that hinder military mobility, especially against the backdrop of a possible conflict with Russia. We are talking about the lack of special permits for the transfer of US troops or narrow and weak bridges and tunnels for heavy machinery.

The plan will now be presented to the governments of the EU and the European Parliament for discussion. The Commission will also consider improving infrastructure and cost estimates, streamlining customs procedures for the transport of ammunition and dangerous goods, and seeking ways to better co-operate with EU agencies.

It should be noted that NATO has its own standards for military bridges, roads, tunnels and airfields.

On March 27, NATO sent seven representatives of the Russian mission in response to the poisoning in Great Britain of the former Russian intelligence officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia.
