The $30 Oil Cliff Threatening Russia's Economy [Engl; Bloomb]

Frankly, I don't see that happening.
For a low price to be maintained, shale gas extraction needs to be economical for the world's largest consumer - the USA.
If prices drop below 40, then shale gas extraction will fall.
And so a price around 45 dollars is acceptable for all. Each time WTI has approached a price of 39 it has risen. Like a benchmark.
Currently, 42 / 45 dollars / barrel. wti / brent.

I heard Opposition Bloc got around 66%. I can't see how, as if there's any city against wanting anything to do with old Yanukovich clan, they would pick them.
Their Opposition leaders will just give-up Mariupol to the Kremlin, for money in return.
Something doesn't smell right. I'll have to sleep on this one.
Good night.

Speculators are looking at $20/brl. It's probably a temporary thing, as planned by the Saudis and the US last year, in a meeting they had, right before the price immediately started going down. None of them can afford it long-term.

....Unexpectedly, however, the Russian position on Ukrainian transit also seems to have shifted. President Vladimir Putin recently indicated that Russia would continue to supplying gas to Europe through Ukraine after 2019 when it had been due to end. This possibly reflects an understanding in the Kremlin that to receive a green light from the EU to operate an expanded Nord Stream pipeline is going to require changing perceptions of Russia's strategy if not the strategy itself....

Not surprising. Frankly shows that it is a free election. Mariupol is close to the Russian border.
But do they really want to live like the people in Donetsk? Or Crimea?

Surprising.
Hotels in Kiev are very expensive. But maybe - over the past year - they have had to adjust their prices a little.
Always better to rent an apartment for a week or so. Cheaper than a hotel room for a day.
I have stayed in hotels in the centre of Vinnitsa, Lviv. Perhaps 30 dollars a night incl. breakfast. That is ok.

Hromadsky tv interview with Whitmore
Mon Nov 30, 2015 7:45 am
I have a lot of time for this guy.
Pity he doesn't work for the BBC, or The Telegraph, when you look at the rubbish they put out on Ukraine - Rainsford - half of Ukrainians are married to Russians, or David Blair of the Telegraph saying that Ukraine is being "heavy handed" fighting against 30,000 Russian tanks.
This guy is intelligent.
I like his line, fairly early on, that Putin want's another "Yalta", where the world is carved up into spheres of influence.
Interview is 10 minutes' long. Worth listening to all, in my opinion.

Tusk agreed with Poroshenko on sanctions extension against Russia
Mon Nov 30, 2015 12:40 pm
During the UN Climate Conference, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with President of the European Council Donald Tusk.
The head of state informed the president of the European Council on the developments in Donbas, emphasizing that Russia and Russian-backed militants kept ignoring the Minsk agreements. This is reported by Censor.NET citing Ukraine president's press service.
The parties agreed that sanctions against Russia must be prolonged until full implementation of the Minsk agreements by Russia.
President Tusk noted that all the EU countries highly appreciated their unity in the attitude towards the aggression against Ukraine.
The interlocutors also discussed the developments in Syria. They agreed that Russia's participation rather created problems than helped solve them.
The president emphasized that despite difficult situation on the front line, Ukraine did not stop on the path of reforms and demonstrated real progress.
Petro Poroshenko noted that DCFTA between Ukraine and the EU would come into force on Jan. 1, 2016. He believes it will strengthen trade relations with the EU and economic independence of Ukraine.
The parties also discussed granting visa-free regime for Ukrainians. The president noted the importance of the issue for Ukrainian people.
Petro Poroshenko invited Donald Tusk to visit Ukraine at his convenience.

Russian prosecutor demands 3 years for 75-year-old Kremlin critic (PHOTO)
Mon Nov 30, 2015 11:20 pm
"We have Putin, a mind is not needed"
The Russian prosecutor has, strictly speaking, asked ‘only’ that 75-year-old civic activist Vladimir Ionov receive a 3-year suspended sentence for his totally peaceful protests. Over this three-year probation period, however, Ionov would be severely hampered in his movements and prohibited from visiting any place where people meet in large numbers. He has already stated unequivocally that, if so sentenced, he will “of course’ not comply with the restrictions.
If the court goes along with the prosecutor, and it seldom dares to do otherwise, Russia could soon reach a new low by imprisoning a dignified 75-year-old pensioner as first victim of a draconian law overtly aimed at crushing peaceful protest.
Ionov will deliver his final speech on Dec 8. During the earlier court debate, he explained how Russians had gained freedom with Perestroika and the collapse of the Soviet Union, and had begun behaving as fee people do, - incorrectly from the point of view of those in power. The situation changed, became “nightmarish” when Vladimir Putin came to power. He recalls Putin’s notoriously vulgar threat to ‘waste terrorists in the latrine’ and says that he had begun protesting then, going on demonstrations and marches.
“When the authorities out of fear or for some other reason banned these marches, I began coming out on single-person pickets which are not banned. That ended with me finding myself at this event (i.e. trial) where, in honesty, I feel ashamed since so much paper, so many people are distracted. All of us here, never mind whether we’re citizens or those who about think about their own interests, we’re all residents of this city. And in this city murders are taking place. On Feb 27 the unpunished killing of Boris Nemtsov. Nor is that the first killing. No reaction from those in power [he uses the term ‘servants of the people’], though he was a deputy.”.......................
