The number of cases of attacks on women in Cologne rose to 379

The number of cases initiated by reports of attacks on women in Cologne (Germany) in the New Year holidays has risen to 379. AFP reported, citing data from the German police.
According to the report, the majority of suspects are persons who are seeking asylum and illegal migrants.
"Those who are in the center of the criminal investigation police - mostly immigrants from North African countries. Most of them are asylum seekers, and people who are in Germany illegally, "- said the police.
On Saturday, January 9, Cologne police used water cannons against anti-Islamic movement members Pegida, who came out to protest. Representatives of the movement, which protested against the migration policy of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the reception of refugees, the police started throwing bottles and firecrackers.
Also on Saturday in Cologne three groups of protesters staged a rally against attacks on women that occurred on the night of 1 January.
Earlier, the party of Chancellor Angela Merkel's CDU / CSU proposed the adoption of a law on the deportation of refugees who are charged with crimes and are serving sentence.
