The course of the pound sterling against the US dollar fell 2.1% to $ 1.41 after London Mayor Boris Johnson's statements about the support of the UK exit from the EU. According to BBC News, a decrease of the British currency was the biggest fall in a day since 2009.
Johnson said February 21 that it plans to support the idea of the British exit from the EU. According to the mayor of the British capital, he "wants to make a better deal for the people of this country", media reported.
As reported on February 20, British Prime Minister David Cameron, a referendum on the country's membership in the EU will be held June 23, 2016.
On the same day it became known that the UK has achieved a special status in the European Union. In particular, the country won the right in their own way to interpret the EU's political decisions.
Prior to the referendum, Cameron will lead a campaign to convince Britons of the need to stay in the European Union.
