Trump accuses China of US trade deficit
Amid high trade deficit, Washington decided to check trade relations
President of the United States, Donald Trump, who has repeatedly threw other partners dishonesty in trade with Washington, decided to move to action. The head of the White House on Friday, March 31, signed two decrees that regulate trade relations, according to information agencies AFP.
The first decree envisages the creation of a list of countries and products, which are responsible for the US trade deficit. This figure results for 2016 is 481 billion dollars.
According to the Minister of Commerce Wilbur Ross, the test will concern first application of rules and regulations, and those trade agreements which, in the opinion of Washington, did not bring the hoped for results. According to the American official, the countries that are most responsible for the US trade deficit is China. Also, "potentially" involved in the status quo in American trade may be Canada, France, Mexico, Japan, Germany, added Ross.
The second decree ordered Trump relevant US agencies to check how the United States may require an increase in taxes and fees for foreign governments subsidized products. Thus Washington prefers better to deal with the "dumping".
During the presentation of the two decrees Trump said: "We will protect our industry." In his view, it also has a "fair conditions for American workers." So it is now time to "correct those bad free trade agreements," he added.
Ross Minister, in turn, reported the dumping accusations addressed to steel producers from Austria, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Test results allow to raise fees in volume from 3.62 to 148.02 percent of the import price.
New steps on the sale of Trump administration drew criticism from Berlin. German Foreign Minister Ziґmar Gabriel (Sigmar Gabriel) gave Washington violation of the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO). A ministerka economy Tsyupris Germany Brigitte (Brigitte Zypries) said that the US approach is "concern" of the German government. It also ruled that Berlin may resort to the claim against the United States in the WTO.
