Macron declared responsible for mass arrests of French Jews in 1942

French President Emmanuel macron stressed the responsibility of France for the mass arrests of Jews in 1942.
He said this during the mourning event to mark the 75th anniversary of the raid "Vel d'Iv" in the presence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, transfers DW.
"This is France organized the roundup and deportation later" - macron said, adding that these events did not participate "no German."
Macron also said that France supports all diplomatic efforts to end the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. He called to resume negotiations for a peaceful settlement and noted that Israelis and Palestinians would have "live next to each other within secure and recognized borders."
Raid "Vel d'Iv" - is the largest series of mass arrests of Jews committed in France during World War II. From 14 to 15 July 1942 in Paris and its suburbs have been arrested more than 13,000 people, more than a third of whom were children. Most of them were later killed, survived less than a hundred people.
Directly Vélodrome d'Hiver - velodrome is in the center of Paris, which were placed arrested Jews. It was an indoor cycling arena at the corner of the boulevard and street Hrenel Nelaton in the 15th district of Paris near the Eiffel Tower.
