The Rolling Stones guitarist, Ronnie Wood, said he was ill with lung cancer.
He said this in an interview with the Mail on Sunday newspaper.
Wood said that the diagnosis was set him in May after the survey.
Shortly thereafter, the musician suffered a five-hour operation to remove part of the lung.
