EU countries will not relocate embassies to Jerusalem

EU countries will not transfer their embassies to Jerusalem, for example, the United States.

This was stated by a representative of the EU on foreign affairs and security policy Federica Mogherini after communicating with the head of the Israeli government, said the site of the EU diplomatic service.

"I know that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly recalled that he expects others to repeat the decision of US President Trump to relocate embassies to Jerusalem. He can keep his expectations about other countries, but this step will not be taken by the member states of the European Union, "she said.

Mogherini emphasized that the idea that Jerusalem is the capital of two states - Israel and Palestine - is most realistic.

Earlier it was reported that the deputies of the Israeli parliament appealed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel .

On December 6, US President Donald Trump announced the decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel , as well as the intention to relinquish the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. The American Embassy is currently located in Tel Aviv.

The Israeli prime minister supported the decision of the American president. The UN Security Council did not support Trump's decision.

The decision of the American leader has caused numerous protests around the world.
