The US will allocate $ 40 million to combat foreign propaganda

The Pentagon and the US Department of State have agreed to allocate funds to combat foreign propaganda supported by individual states. In total plan to allocate 40 million dollars.

This is reported by Politico.

Despite the fact that Russia did not name it at the time of the official announcement of the start of the program, the publication assumes that it is with the Kremlin's disinformation and propaganda that will fight first and foremost.

The memorandum signed by agencies envisages the transfer of funds from the Pentagon to the state-owned American Global Engagement Center, which was set up to combat Islamist propaganda in 2016.

"This financing is crucial for us to continue to aggressively react to malicious influence and misinformation, and we can use deeper partnerships with our allies, the Silicon Valley and other partners in this struggle," said Deputy Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy by Steve Goldstein.

Recall, the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting refused to import into the territory of Ukraine three books from Russia through propaganda.

Ukraine News in brief. Tuesday 27 February. [Ukrainian sources] Censor_news_big3

The United States urges Russia to bring to justice the organizers and customers of the murder of Russia's opposition politician, Boris Nemtsov, who was killed three years ago in the center of Moscow.

"His memory continues to inspire Russians and many others around the world to engage in a difficult, and sometimes dangerous, struggle for a just, democratic and controlled power," the statement said.

The State Department emphasized that they once again urge the Government of Russia "to adhere to its obligations to support and protect universal human rights, including freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and freedom of association."

"We again urge the Russian government to ensure that all those involved in this crime, including those who have organized or ordered them, are facing a trial," the foreign ministry said.

Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov does not have a correctional colony number 8 in the city of Labitnangi in the Urals.

Such a response was given by the Human Rights Defender Jani Goncharovy at the Federal Penitentiary Service. She informed the Civic about this.

On February 25, Goncharova wrote a letter through the FESP electronic system, and on February 27, she replied: "The letter can not be delivered, because the recipient is not held by this institution."

Sister Oleg Sentsova Natalia Kaplan refused to answer in the next part of the colony whether Sentsov is in their place.

On February 14, 2018, Sentsov first phoned during his stay in a penal colony in Labitnangi in the Urals.

Recall that in August 2015 in the Rostov-on-Don Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov was sentenced to 20 years in a strict regime colony.

He is accused of creating a terrorist organization on the territory of the annexed Crimea.

In mid-October, Sentsova was taken to a colony in the Russian Yamal. Attorney Sentsova Dmitry Dinzu said that Sentsova traveled to Yamal because of the fears of pickets in his support.

In Moldova, the first television channel was fined under the law prohibiting Russian propaganda

Ukraine News in brief. Tuesday 27 February. [Ukrainian sources] Censor_news_big3

The Moldova Television and Radio Coordination Council fined the RTR-Moldova television channel for violating the law prohibiting Russian propaganda.

As the Censor reports. NET reports Russian Interfax.

"RTR-Moldova TV channel" included Russian news stories in its own information program. Although the TV channel recorded its earmark for each story, it is identical to the original text on the Russian TV channel, thus, the TV channel mislead the viewers by giving Russian news for their own information product"- said during the meeting of the council its chairman Dragosh Vikol.

These are news stories that highlighted the production of self-propelled howitzers "Coalition", the demolition of monuments to Soviet soldiers in Poland and the presidential elections in Russia. The incident highlighted that the management of the TV channel misinterpreted the provisions of the law and will be supervised by the experts of the CRED.

Ukraine News in brief. Tuesday 27 February. [Ukrainian sources] Empty Russia vetoed a UN resolution accusing Iran of supplying arms to Yemen

Tue Feb 27, 2018 11:21 am
Russia vetoed a UN resolution accusing Iran of supplying arms to Yemen

Russia vetoed a UN resolution designed by the United Kingdom to prevent a UN ban on arms transfers to Yemen.

This was reported by Associated Press.

"The resolution was supported by 11 countries, against the representatives of Russia and Bolivia. China and Kazakhstan abstained, "the report said.

The resolution states that Iran has violated the arms embargo imposed in 2015 by failing to "take all necessary steps to prevent direct or indirect supplies of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles" to Hussein rebels in Yemen.

Representatives of Britain focused on the January report of the United Nations expert group on monitoring sanctions against Iran.

It says that last year the group has studied the remains of rockets launched by Husuits in Saudi Arabia and found that most of them "coincide with the Qiam-1 rockets developed and manufactured in Iran."

Immediately after the British project vetoed, a Russian project that did not mention Iran was voted on, but only prolonged sanctions against Yemen until February 26, 2019. The project was unanimously approved.

Recall that in 2015, between Husuits and government forces in Yemen, a civil war continues. Other parties - the so-called southern Yemeni separatists, al-Qaeda and the "Islamic state" - are also involved with it. The rebels seized the city of Sana, the capital of Yemen, and the president was forced to flee to the southern port of Aden.

An Anticorruption Court Law can be passed in the first reading this week - Parubius

Ukraine News in brief. Tuesday 27 February. [Ukrainian sources] Censor_news_big3

The Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy assumes that the bill on the creation of the Anti-corruption Court can be approved already during the current plenary week.

"Tomorrow, the first issue will be the formation of an agenda for this session, and among the issues included in the agenda there is the creation of the Anti-corruption Court. And even if they do not vote for the agenda, I will be putting a separate issue on the agenda of the issue of anti-corruption the court", - he said on the air of the program" Freedom of Speech "on the ICTV channel, reports Tsensor. NET with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.

A.Parubiy noted that the inclusion of the bill in the agenda will give an opportunity to consider it on the profile committee. "I will immediately instruct the relevant committee to immediately review the bill on the Anticorruption Court, and if we get a decision on the committee on Wednesday, then we have the opportunity to put it for consideration and vote in the first reading on Thursday even in the first reading," he assumes.

Speaker noted that the second reading will be edited, discussions will continue on the recommendations of the Venice Commission. "In particular, there will be a debate about reducing the requirements for judges, because, based on what is proposed now, we simply can not recruit these judges, and we must also determine the minimum number of judges required for the work of the court," he said.

Bandera has nothing to do with the Volyn tragedy, - former Polish prime minister Olshevsky criticized the "historic" law

Ukraine News in brief. Tuesday 27 February. [Ukrainian sources] Censor_news_big3

Former Prime Minister of Poland Jan Olshevsky once again criticized an updated law on the Institute of National Remembrance.

This is reported by Tsensor.NET with reference to Radio Poland.

Commenting on the cult of Stepan Bandera in Ukraine, Yan Olshevsky noted that in Poland the national hero of Ukraine unfairly demonize.

"The crime of Stepan Bandera against the Polish people was really only one, and those who now speak loudly about banderism in Poland are often forgotten about it. This crime was organized in 1934 by an attack on the Polish Minister of the Interior, Colonel Bronislav Peryatsky, and what is important - During the trial of the accused, in particular Bandera, he was sentenced to death, "said former Prime Minister Yan Olshevsky.

The politician added that linking Stepan Bandera with the Volyn tragedy is a mistake. "After all, the Volyn operation was carried out when Bandera was imprisoned by the Germans," Olshevsky reminded, adding that Roman Shukhevych was to be associated with the Volyn tragedy, but this issue requires further research.

Yan Olshevsky believes that such mistakes as the incorporation of Ukraine into the law of the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland derive from high ratings of ruling politicians, which impedes them the ability to think rationally and pursue a real, firm policy.

Speaking about the importance of Ukraine for Polish interests, the former prime minister noted that if Ukraine were to lose its independence, Poland's independence would be at stake.

Recall that on January 26, the Polish Sejm supported an amendment to the law on the Institute of National Remembrance. It is based on punishment for attributing to the Polish people the crimes committed by the Third Reich and other crimes against humanity, peace and war crimes, as well as for the promotion of the so-called "Bandera ideology". The punishment provides for a fine or imprisonment for a term up to three years. The President of Poland Andrzej Duda has promised to thoroughly analyze this law.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said he was concerned about the decision of the Senate of Poland. The law was criticized in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

In Israel, the document caused a flurry of indignation . Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that his country "will not cope with distortion of the truth, rewriting history or denying the Holocaust." Most Knesset MPs supported the Israeli bill proposed January 31, according to which the senators of Poland recognize the document as an illegal denial of the Holocaust. The US State Department spokeswoman Heather Noether expressed fears that the law could hurt the freedom of speech in Poland and, noting that the language of "Polish death camps" is indeed inaccurate and misleading.

Ukraine News in brief. Tuesday 27 February. [Ukrainian sources] Empty More US sanctions against Russia expected in next 30 days, - Bloomberg

More US sanctions against Russia expected in next 30 days, - Bloomberg

U.S. Treasury Department is set to impose more sanctions against Russia within a month.
U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin said yesterday, Censor.NET reports citing Saleha Mohsin, the Bloomberg News reporter covering the U.S. Treasury.

As reported, the list of 114 Russian politicians and 96 "oligarchs" who have flourished during the reign of President Vladimir Putin fulfilling a demand by Congress that the U.S. punish Moscow for interfering in the 2016 U.S. election was released late Jan. 29.

The list was made public along with the Trump administration's surprising announcement that it had decided not to punish anybody - for now - under new sanctions retaliating for the election-meddling. Some U.S. lawmakers accused President Trump of giving Russia a free pass, fueling further questions about whether the president is unwilling to confront America's Cold War foe.

Known informally as the "Putin list," the seven-page unclassified document is a who's who of politically connected Russians in the country's elite class. The idea, as envisioned by Congress, is to name-and-shame those believed to be benefiting from Putin's tenure just as the United States works to isolate his government diplomatically and economically.

Being on the list doesn't trigger any U.S. sanctions on the individuals, although more than a dozen are already targeted under earlier sanctions.

Late July 2017, the U.S. Senate passed the new sanctions bill against Russia overwhelmingly and sent it to Trump for signature. Russia in response restricted U.S. diplomatic missions' access to several facilities and demanded to shorten the staff of the mission by 755 people by Sept. 1.

Trump signed the new bill on Russia sanctions into law on Aug. 2, but in a signing statement, he said he sees serious flaws in this document, although signs it for the sake of the national unity.
