In the US, a man has sentenced a million dollars to New York City for false accusations of driving drunk.
This writes the New York Daily News.
In 2015, Oliver Wiggins was arrested for "drunken driving."
He learned about his offense, having come to the rescue in the clinic with chains on his arm, and then sued the city authorities.
In his statement, Wiggins argued that the policemen on a minibus drove a "stop" sign and drove into his car.
Lawyer Wiggins argued that all tests for alcohol then showed a negative result, and his client did not drink at all.
But for arrest, there was enough evidence of the police, Justin Joseph, who argued that Wiggins had "cloudy eyes, incongruous language, the smell of alcohol in the breath and shaky course."
After the incident, Wiggins got injured, his car was broken, but the insurance company did not want to cover the cost through arrest.
Three months later, the charges were lifted, and in two years the American managed to win in court against the city: his compensation was almost 1 million dollars.
Wiggins later went to work as a law enforcement officer at a correctional facility. According to the New York Daily News, the city authorities did not want litigation and settled everything pre-trial, but no one from the police was not released.
Recall that in Florida, a drunk driver phoned the law enforcement services and complained about herself.
